Gary Sinise in Talks to Play Leonard "Bones" McCoy!

It is established canon that McCoy's full name is "Dr. Leonard H. McCoy."

If memory serves, the Brad Ferguson novel "Crisis on Centaurus" established that McCoy's full middle name was "Honkey," but I don't know if that was ever incorporated into an onscreen reference.

^ Well, given the OP in this thread, I think he just made that part up. ;)

How dare you!

I merely presented a series of choices, and at least five posters (at last count) clearly felt like Gary Sinise should not play the part because he is a racist.

If it ultimately turns out that Gary Sinise is not a racist (hard to believe, I know), it is on the libelous heads of those outrageous posters.

You and I are not off to a very good start, new moderator, whomever you are. I only hope that I will not ultimately be forced to demand your head on a stick. I had to do that once before, and it was not pretty.

^

Sam, I'm thinkin' you and I are gonna get on just fine. And I should be honored to be in the illustrious company of Where'sSaavik. Stick or no stick. I mean, we ARE talking about the absolute best MA thread of all time, after all!

May have to buy a new pair of hip waders for this gig though. Where shall I send the bill? :p

^As long as it's not "Racist Henchman of Satan." No one wants to be that, except, apparently, TimofNine. :wtf:

Gary Sinise for McCoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end, I think the problem is not whether or not he's a racist, but the fact that he committed the egregious sin being born before the 80s.

These sources are way back in Febuary when they thought Mat Damon was playing Kirk. This is old news. But I wouldn't mind Sinise as McCoy because I think he would be perfect as the country doctor. But this was nothing but a rumour.

Gary Sinise would be better as McCoy's father: Beauregard Leonard "Cracker" McCoy.

That's Colonel Beauregard Leonard "Cracker" McCoy to you suh! Now where's my damn mint julip! :D

I've been saying Sinise should play McCoy for years. But isn't he a bit old for the role as reimagined?

Gary Sinise, is a great choice for the role. He has done "OUTSTANDING WORK" :) with past movies such as "Forrest Gump", "JFK", and other great movies. Gary, would do great things for the future of Star Trek. :)

Who was he in JFK? I don't remember him in that one.

...and Trek fans solidify their position as the cornballs of fandom, leaving Star Wars nerds to once again, breathe a sigh of relief.

You might have missed him 'cause he was back, and to the left. Back, and to the left. :p

(Actually the poster might have been thinking of Gary Oldman, who played Oswald. IMDB has no listing under either Sinise or JFK that suggest he was involved in the film.)
