Gaps for 4th Doctor audios

The Four Doctor

Commander
Red Shirt
Now, the one they are definitely using is between "State of Decay" and "Warrior's Gate" (you just have to invent new planets in E-Space).

Other gaps rumoured are "Meglos" and "Full Circle" (Team TARDIS adventures with the Earthling/George Morris) and "The Keeper of Traken" and "Logopolis" (The Doctor and Adric have had to have gone somewhere to pick up a new image translator, so there is a bit of wiggle room there).

Your thoughts on these possibilities?

Not a fan. Season 18's charm for me is that all the stories ran into one another, and there's virtually no gap at all for other stories, thus giving the season a sense of an arc - indeed, it almost feels like the prototype NuWho season, with the big finale tying various plot threads throughout the season. BF is clearly grasping the bottom of the barrell there, but then that's not new.

More Earthling stories with George Morris? I can barely imagine one, but that'd be it. And a number of adventures between Traken and Logopolis? I thought its referenced in dialogue that they'd just left Romana behind...

No need to get a new image translator, they have an n-space one in Traken. I think the Warriors Gate book mentions the swap-out.

There's no other gaps, the dialogue in the stories make that quite clear.

I think we've pretty much come to the end of the line, barring more DWM comic strip adaptations. The only other space in Four's life you can build on is the Sarah/Harry era, and that won't be happening, at least not with Tom. Jon Culshaw and Sadie Miller, maybe.

I actually think there can be a gap between Leela and Romana I, which they finally mine, but they cater to Tom Baker's sentimentality and keep making Four/Leela stories for the sake of it. I can also enjoy Romana II and Four, but only prior to season 18. That's it.

They are planning to create Four/Adric audios - I think there is already a published short story from years back in the Traken/Logopolis gap.

At the end of State of Decay, the Doctor is telling Adric in no uncertain terms that he will be returned to the Starliner, but by Warrior's Gate, they seem like old mates. So there are other planets in E-Space, just from the TV show.

Maybe between the E-Space trilogy and get a sound-alike for Lalla Ward if she's not available, and even with arc or prevailing theme (and variations thereof therein), there is some wiggle room in E-Space.

"Logopolis" did, I believe, mention Romana's departure and jettisoned her room as a quickie moment. But it's not impossible to shoehorn stories between "Traken" and it unless dialogue specifically states what you said, in only just leaving her behind in E-Space. But being two stories later, I don't recall it being any more than just mentioning the now-vacant room and burning it up so they could get around what was preventing them from dematerializing.

The Earthling from "Meglos" is just one of many things needing to be fleshed out in the lumped bag of a story. But prequels need to gel with the story they're leading to and, so far, no prequel has fully accomplished such a task.

Given that Lis Sladen isn't available, you can add extra stories between Assassin and Face of Evil, at most points where Leela is around, between seasons 15 and 16 (Anne Kelso), at numerous points in season 17, and if need be between Decay and Gate, and Traken/Logopolis.

Doesn't entirely cover it, as sometimes you could add an extra landing between the story proper and the end of episode lead-in to the next one (eg: Aztecs/Sensorites).
Perhaps, but I think the idea is that unless there is something explicitly requiring a gap (eg. costume change), it is meant to represent the continuity as seen on TV, between the end of one episode and the next.

Well, in Aztecs ISTR there's a costume change between them entering the TARDIS in the tomb, and the console room scene that leads into Sensorites. Whereas in Marinus Ian is still in his Chinese silk robe from Marco Polo, even though there's no direct lead-in.
