Agree? Disagree?

For the most part I agree with a lot of the list I would just move things around a bit.

Here would be my top 14 as I never really played the others or just didn't like them

1. Dead Space
2. Gears of War 2
3. Fallout 3
4. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
5. Borderlands
6. BioShock
7. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfar/2
8. Halo 3
9. Dead Rising
10. Left 4 Dead
11. Halo 3: ODST
12. Grand Theft Auto IV
13. The Orange Box
14. Crackdown

I'm not sure how I would rank them but... Mass Effect, Halo 3, Prototype, Bioshock, Marvel Alliance II, Crackdown...

Those are actually fairly good lists, even if I do disagree with the words "greatest" and "Halo" being anywhere near each other.

I love the Earth Defense Force mention. That game was fantastic, especially in two player mode.

My list would be more like this:

1. Mass Effect
2. Halo 3
3. Dead Space
4. Assassin's Creed 2 (haven't played yet, but looks amazing)
5. Burnout Paradise

I don't really count Fallout 3 in the list or Left 4 Dead because I see them as more PC games.

I'll take a crack at ranking the games from the IGN list that I have played through...

1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
2. Rock Band 2
3. Gears of War
4. Dead Rising
5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
6. Shadow Complex
7. Geometry Wars
8. Grand Theft Auto IV
9. BioShock
10. Braid
11. Mass Effect
12. Halo 3

To me the biggest drop in quality is from Mass Effect to Halo 3... still a good game, but I think I'd call the rest of the games great. It's kind of hard to rank the smaller XBLA titles in there because they're so comparatively small and low budget. But Shadow Complex kicked ass, and I played the shit out of Geometry Wars, great arcade gameplay and looks really nice on an HDTV when HD console gaming was still a complete novelty to me. I have Dead Space as well but I can't rank it as I've barely played it.
