Yeah not expecting him to show up would have been funny. But it was plenty funny anyway. 
When I read this thread, I couldn't figure out what the "meth-addled robot" comment could possibly refer to, but when I realized what the movie was about, it was like, ah-HAH!
Then it was just a question of sitting through all the boring carnage to get to funny part. They should have done a lot more in Society-world and used it to satirize gaming and internet fandom. They should read some of the shit Milo's online stalkers have to say - plenty of hilariously depraved ideas right there.
The screenwriters need to stop basing their stories on other movies, and start collecting ideas out there in the real world. That's what'll make it fresh and relevant.
