Game Shows...

I remember growing up and morning tv, on weekdays, was dominated by game shows. All kinds of them, and on all three networks. Tic-Tac-Dough, Matchgame, $10000 Pyramid, Price is Right, High Rollers..and on and on.

Now, in this time, we have the so called GAME NETWORK. But I find their games to be cheap low budget shows with practically no real 'high power' guests on them. I would love to see game-shows come back on morning tv. How about $200,000 Pyramid or Password? And Family Feud? Just think of some of the strange families out there that could compete. I mean, the word family has such a wide defintion now!!!

Bring back the mindless game shows...and make them big and on NETWORK tv...

The last time we brought back the classic game shows to prime time television, they were hosted by Vernon Kay. :wah:

Tic-Tac-Dough with Wink Martindale was always my favorite, with The Jokers Wild as a close second.

When Press Your Luck came out with Peter Tamarkin (sp?) I instantly loved it. Also good was Anything for Money. Actors hired as regualr people by the show would try to "buy" something off of the unsuspecting people, to see how high they would need to go to buy whatever was at stake. They never went past 200 for stuff.

I remember walking with my Dad long ago, and I told him that if someone wants to buy something off of us we should hold out until they offer 200 bucks. He just shook his head OK to humor me....

I loved the old Matchgame series in the 1970s. As a young kid back then I always thought that the celebs on those shows were just having too much fun. Later, I found out that they were drunk, or at least nicely buzzed during the show. I doubt that you'd get away with that nowadays.

I was watching Match Game when they cut in and announced that Elvis had died. I'll never forget that...

I loved all those old games. Matchgame, Pyramid, Password...great games and zany celebrities. I think Shatner kept his career alive by appearing on those shows.
