Game of Thrones Season 4 Speculation on the Books (General Spoilers)

By general spoilers, I mean please leave out specific details for the books and only refer to the plot points in vague detail.

I have just finished Storm of Swords. I wanted to read the book in its entirety before season four started as I keep getting spoiled on the story. I read the first half of Storm of Swords before watching Season 3 only to find out the series went beyond the first half of the book.

My question is, does anyone have an idea how far season four will go forward in the story.

When I first began the second half of ASOS, I figure that season four would probably get into the first chapters of AFFC and ADWD, but now that I have finished I am not so sure.

There is a lot in those last twenty chapters or so. There are a lot of battle scenes and a lot that happens off the page in flashbacks that would adapt very well to a series. For example, Daenerys' section could easily be written to cover an entire season, as could Arya's. Also, the cliffhanger in the Epilogue as well as the last chapters for Sansa and Tyrion would make for a great way for their characters to end a season.

So, does anyone know if the next season will explore parts of books four and five or not?

Yes. Though some story threads will likely lag behind to take advantage of their aSoS climaxes.

It's not the finale, it's the ninth episode.

Bran is completely into Book 5 material. Brienne seemingly is going to get at least a bit into her Book 4 story. At least some elements of Dany's Book 5 story will also be showing up. Jon, Sansa, Tyrion and Arya seem to be the main plotlines that will remain within Book 3.

A mix of simple content analysis (Bran used all his Book 3 chapters already, for instance) and filming/casting spoilers (winteriscoming.net is one place to get a lot of them).
