This.I've read the books and I love the show. It's not exactly as I pictured it in every respect, but so far it's a very good adaptation.
The other shoe has already started to drop.Where's the middle ground option? I have not read the books and I like the show, but I'm not sure if I'll stick around. Honestly, I'm only even bothering because there's been such hype around it and I'm waiting for it to get more interesting. We have all these characters and plot threads and history, and..? I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop to bring all the threads together into a cohesive story.

The end of the last episode was letting go of the shoe.

Yeah, I kind of got that impression.![]()
The books that were published so far span about 2-2.5 years.Never read the books and really enjoying the show so far. Each episode leaves me wanting to see what happens next. Indeed, I'm finding myself engaged in *all* of the various plot threads, which is a rare thing for a story like this. Usually there's one bunch of characters that don't quite hold up as well as the others. Not so here.
I must admit that I was starting to get bored with the exiled white haired siblings and their barbarian horde...that is I was until whiney McArseface got bitch slapped with a bullwhip and his sister cottened on to who really has the power out of the two of them.
The dwarf prince is easily the best character so far and I get the feeling (assuming they don't kill him off) that he's one of the most interesting in the books too.
I probably should ask, but do the books span a fairly long stretch of time? I ask because some of the things they're setting up (especially with Sean Bean's tomboy of a younger daughter) look like they're not meant to fully pay off until *much* later, like a decade or two.
I was just curious to see what people who have read the A Song of Ice and Fire books have thought of the show compared to those who haven't.
For those who have read the books are there any specific changes they've made that you've liked or not liked.
