Game Engine Comparison

I'm curious of the following which game engine is better for the following reasons
  • Cost
  • Graphics
  • Realism of Animation
  • Ease of Rendering
  • Ease of programming
  • Computer processing requirements / ideal requirements

Earlier Generation (2004-2005)
  • Unreal Engine 3
  • CryEngine

Modern Generation
  • CryEngine 2
  • CryEngine 3
  • Unreal Engine 4

For personal use? Did a quick look at their licensing page and got the following.

Unreal Engine 3
Price: $99 + 25% royalty on related revenue above $50,000

Unreal Engine 4
Price: $19 + 5% royalty on related revenue above $3,000 (per quarter)

I'm sure there are plenty of strings attached. I'd do more research, but I thought I'd jot this down real quick because I was curious as well. Google can be a friend when it comes to this kind of information. :techman:

What if there is no revenue? I.e. it's a fan project and non profit?

Unreal Engine 4
Price: $19 + 5% royalty on related revenue above $3,000 (per quarter)
As before

Does it involve the ability to render things on your own?
