Future of the Fedaration - Speculation (Spoliers Alert)

With the events of the latest Star Trek movie, I am interesting in what people thought the new future of the Federation will be like?

Some questions come to mind:

1) Did Spoke truly go back in time or into an alternate universe?

2) What will the Romuluan do, when word eventually leaks back as to their future? In that same vain, the Elder Spock also has knowledge of the Klingon's future, the Borg, the Dominion, etc.. This would make him the most valuable (and possibly sought after) person in the the Federation, Klingon Empire, etc..

3) Will the Klingons and/or Romulans invade the Federation, sensing possible weakness?

3) How will Vulcan behavior change, given that they are now all but extinct? Is it wise to limit themselves to a single colony?

4) Will the secrets of Red Matter get discovered by the Klingons, Romulans, etc...?

5) What if another Spock and Kirk show up from the TOS universe?

6) Will Kirk's feelings about the Enterprise be as before, given his life history is so different?

7) Will there be attempts to restore the old timeline? Should there be?

8) Assuming the Romulan lifespan is the same as the Vulcan, what would Kirk/Spock do if they discover Nero in the new timeline, assuming Spock did go back in time?

What are your thoughts?

the Mighty & Glorious Klingon Empire will crush the Federation once & for all!!!

long live the Klingon Empire!

Realistically, as in what has been observed in history, or what the Abrams crew may do?

Realistically, some internal strife and factional involvement within the federation for the perceived (not actual) grand SNAFU that was the destruction of Vulcan. Severe blow to intellectual base of Federation, possibly crippling. Long term survivability of the Federation highly uncertain to very improbable. At best? Period of internal instability and loss of Federation's intellectual coherency. Will survive, but in a far different form than what was in TNG. At worst? Factional degeneration and destruction from within, destruction from without via invaders, or some combination of the two.

What may Abrams do? Whizzbang, zoom, everything is OK.

I think that Spock will be rejected and blamed for the demise of Vulcan. Knowing about the power of Red Matter logic dictated that the Jellyfish should have self destructed to prevent it from falling in enemy hands. However, this did not occur, so the Elder Spock I think will be shunned by his own people and the younger Spock as well by extension.

Unlikely, since it appears the Narada put quite a dent into the Klingon fleet. :techman:

the losses were great but the Mighty Fleet of the Klingon Empire is GREATER- if it were not for our ships lacking speed we would have caught that Romulan dog as he tried to escape!

Wrong. Logic dictated that the red matter was still likely to be the only way to save Romulus, and it would be even more precious in the earlier time frame, when the technology might not be available to create more. And even knowing he was captured by Nero, self-destruction was not logical since Spock was the only one capable of gauging the damage to the timeline and potentially correcting it. He didn't know it was too late for that until after Nero had him.
