Well the good thing about voice work is you can have a pretty flexible working environment. I've heard of some voice actors having their own studio at home and just laying the tracks down over a conference call.

I've heard the same thing, which surprises me. I wouldn't think a phone line would have that great sound quality. But apparently it works.

They don't use the phone line for recording, just for direction or interacting with the other actors. The actual final recording is done on-site with high-quality equipment and then shipped (or uploaded, in this modern age) to the studio. They do prerecorded long-distance radio interviews the same way. The two parties are talking to each other over the phone, but each is recording their own side of the conversation with good equipment, and then the two separate recordings are merged later.
