From Where do Phasers Emit???

Anyway, to answer the question more definitively, there's no place on any of the official models that match up to where phasers would emit. Most the VXF shots seem to have all weapons come from near the lower sensor dome, despite spoken dialog at times.

The Technical Manual gives us phaser locations consistent with what's mentioned in dialog, but then puts the photon torpedoes just below the bridge. Personally I put a bank of phasers at deck ten, above the sensor, with a photon-launcher each just outside of them.

I always thought they came from the domes. I liked how the aft dome light was also the aft weapons array in the mirror episode in ENTERPRISE.

  • The Enterprise's three double phaser bursts, which Sulu says constituted a full discharge of phaser banks, fire from an unusual location in this episode – not from near the glowing dome at the bottom of the saucer, but from much higher up, closer to where Matt Jefferies originally located the main phaser banks in his early diagrams of the ship. These schematics appeared as display diagrams in other episodes and also on the sides of the early AMT Star Trek model kits.
