From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discovered:

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

I certainly hope that there will be more extended episodes down the line. The idea of putting extended episodes on a season set that it didn't originate from is not all that unfamiliar. After all, the alternate second pilot "Where No Man has Gone Before" was put on the original series third season BluRay set.

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

Would be very nice to see an extended cut of Brothers, as long as the cut footage is from the A-plot and not the B-plot.

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

The entire thing is downloadable btw...while it doesn't add as much to the episode as Measure of a Man, I particularly liked it when captain Maxwell walked past Gul Macet on the bridge.

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

The big scene with Maxwell & Picard always seemed a bit truncated at that one point. Good to see it filled out to its proper proportions. Made the actors' performances seem more fluid

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

Picard's alternate last line is awesome. "We know. We'll be watching. And we'll be ready."

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

The Wounded is definitely in the top bracket of TNG episodes. There's some weakness in the story in Picard letting Maxwell reboard the Phoenix, and so the set-up to the final act is somewhat contrived, but that aside and overall it's an excellent, moving episode.

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

This is excellent news regarding one of my favorite Trek episodes of all time. There's a reason I've had it in my signature block for years. :techman:

If nothing else, Trek fans should love to see what a rough cut without music and most FX looks like. Pretty neat. Those Cardassian uniforms were noisy!!! lol

Yeah, and I'm glad they did away with those helmets.

Only scene I thought may have been worth keeping is Maxwell on the bridge. The rest were rightfully cut IMO.

It's definitely interesting to watch but the pacing is much better in the scenes with the cuts.

I love those old crustacean Cardassian uniforms, I wish ST would have gone more alien with it's uniforms like that. A rare outside of the box design moment.

Agreed, I like two of the added scenes, but this works better as an extra.

Re: From our friends at Trekcore: extended cut of The Wounded discover

Most of those scenes were rather unnecessary, but I like the scene were Maxwell strolls onto the bridge and sees Macet.

It never occurred to me until now, but we never see Maxwell interact with a Cardassian face to face in the episode. It's a really nice moment, without doing a whole lot.

I like the line about Maxwell always wanting to command a Galaxy class ship too. A nice little reminder that Picard's command is almost certainly the envy of other captains. ("Tin Man" touched on this with Captain DeSoto).
