From mystifying lines to flying toasters: what's your Screensaver?

Zulu Romeo

I've just been entranced by my laptop's screensaver - the hypnotic "Ribbons" on my Vista computer. I remember, before I had Vista, I would use Starfield set at maximum stars and slowest speed as my screensaver of choice. Very Trek.

Back in the days of Windows 3.1, a friend of mine gave me the screensaver package After Dark (home of the world famous Flying Toasters) which as fun. Later I got hold of the Star Trek edition (based on the original series) complete with sound bites, which was still my favourite screensaver package ever. :bolian:

So, what's your screensaver? And which ones have been your favourite?

I'm quite saddened they got rid of Starfield for Vista. Let's hope it returns for Windows 7.

I don't have firefox plugins or toolbars or any of that stuff either.

I don't use firefox, but I do hear you with the toolbars thing. I hate all google/yahoo/whatever toolbars/assistants, system tray icons, background programs and all the other assorted junk that various programs love to try to install. I try to have the minimum clutter around at any given time.

I haven't used one for several years, but back when my family first got a computer it was flying toasters all the way. When I got my own personal computer I used the words floating around and would make it the current time, or write something like Michelle's Computer.

I use the Google Picture screensaver, I have some pictures of the family, of shows I like, and of comics. My 5 year old son really loves seeing the comicbook pictures, while my oldest likes seeing the pictures of the family.

I did have the Vista bubbles screensaver for a short time, because it was cool, though I did miss seeing my pictures.

Don't have one, I have the displays turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity though.

Just the default Vista screensaver, no toolbars and only a couple of Firefox add-ons.

I did see a screensaver once that was like an Escher painting, constantly rebuilding itself in new ways. Thought it was nifty, but I'd probably never get anything done if I had something like that on the screen.

Don't use one at home. At work it's a selection of family photos. They remind me of my loved ones when I'm embroiled in some work-related crap, and the foreign holidays I've been on remind me that there is a reason I'm doing it all.

I apparantly have a small monkey that jokes around on my screen if no one is using it. Pulling faces etc. It is either a wierd unharmful virus, or my kid has downloaded something.
