From Broken Bow to Star Trek Nemesis

Happy new year everyone! Anyone here planning to have a marathon of all Trek till midnight on May 8th? I don't ever think I've been more excited for a movie, even more so than the Star Wars prequels. I hope that Abrams can pull a rabbit out of his hat, and deliver the best movie of the year, and usher a new era of Trek dominance in scifi! I might even throw in a little Elite Force, and Bridge Commander marathons for PC in there as well!

Good idea, if my wife will let me. I think I'll skip STV though. I like to pretend that never happened.

Well thats one major undertaking. You will have to cover more than 500 hours in just over 120 days. Thats about 5 episodes per day. You must have a lot of free time on your hands ;). I usually take about 5 years to get through all the shows and movies, exluding Enterprise which I don't like.

my goodness, while there are only a handful of episodes that I have never seen, I could not imagine sitting in on a marathon. and watching it all.. wow but 5 episodes a day isn't too unwieldy if I was still in college...

Just watch all the movies and call it a day. The exercise would still be in the same spirit of what you want to do. Going through all five television series is overkill, especially when there's only four months left to do it.

Since this movie is TOS-based, you could go through every episode of TOS. That seems a little more attainable and a little more realistic.

I started one a few months ago, at the moment I am up to disc 1 of DS9 season 3, I have it worked out so that the 10 days leading up to the new movie I can watch the movies.

Damnit, I wish I had all the Treks...

I have all the films though and various DVDs so I'll be watching those and
making an extra effort to watch Spike TV.

Started with "Broken Bow" a few months ago, just watched DS9's The Circle trilogy and about to watch TNG's "Gambit". :)

You could do the first and last episode of each series (well, maybe the second to last episode for Enterprise) in addition to the 10 movies.

Well, I plan on watching a disc or two a night. Not in one sitting, though. Back when Quantum of Solace came out, I watched a Bond movie a night for 21 days till th new one came out. I love doing that. I do it with all the franchises that come out with a new release. I watched Batman Begins the evening before The Dark Knight came out. I had the night off from work so I could do that! When Rocky Balboa came out for another example, I did a Rocky movie a week for that one. It's a lot of fun to do that.

I've been going through the whole of Star Trek with weekend marathons since January 2006. I'm limited to Sat/Sun afternoons lasting around three hours at one sitting, with ENT/TNG/DS9/VOY - 4 episodes or back when I did TOS - 3 episodes. I went for a sort of chrono-series/airdate order - starting with Broken Bow (although I may have squeezed in First Contact the week before). I'm currently six episodes into Voyager S2 and on the Deep Space Nine S4 premiere. I passed by Generations over Christmas.

I used Memory Alpha for the broadcast dates, if anyone's interested. The site shows in which order stories were released under each episode summary.

Wow that would be some serious viewing! That is ALOT of trek.

There were 704 episodes of Star Trek not including TAS which would bring up your total to 726. Assuming the average length of all episodes with commercials removed is 42 minutes that gives us 492 hours 48 minutes or 508 hours 12 minutes of non-stop TV Trek depending if you're only counting TEH CANON!

Counting the movies' total length of 1144 minutes that would add an additional 19 hours 4 minutes to give us a grand total of 511 hours 52 minutes (21 days, 3 hours, 52 minutes) to 527 hours 16 minutes (21 days, 23 hours, 16 minutes).

As of today, there are 125 days until opening day. You'd have to watch on average 4 hours, 5 minutes, 42 seconds per day to watch every Star Trek episode and movie.

Of course, that's not counting any special relating to the series. But good luck!
