Gave him contractor status (but what about his shady activities?).
Considering that pretty much everyone seems to get government contracts no questions asked these days, it seems like it's almost REQUIRED for a contractor to be shady. :guffaw:

OMG SHOCKING ENDING.

Really, doing that every week just trivializes the "shocking plot points". The episode should have just ended with Walter and Pacey talking about hairless guy.

This is the first episode I actually got into. I'm fascinated by the Marvel Comics' The Watcher in his first live action incarnation. Particularly when it was revealed he saved the Bishops decades ago. I think he's an alien; after all, JJ Abrams has never done aliens in any of his fantastical TV shows/mvs so he's well due. Also what's up with the light gun and ground bullet? Intriguing.

This episode was probably the one that kept me captivated the most, even if there were no real answers given.

Although it sort of seemed like the bad guy should've said, "I come in peace," right before Dolph Lundgren replies, "And you go in pieces."

And the preview for the next several episodes, did they show Dark City guy in one of the shots? He seems like a character who should return later on.

Just watched it on streaming Fox. Pacing was good with no commercials. 'The Observer' kicks this ep into slightly above average rating.
They've got me for another week....

Oh man, this show is awesome.

I especially liked the twist at the end! Whoa. That was NOT what I was expecting!

I also liked how creepy The Observer was. Mysterious too. I'm sure we'll see this character again!

Lots of questions in this episode. Plus: Walter's son got more do. And a reason to stick around! There may be hope for that character yet.

In any case, I'm very happy that FOX is giving Fringe a full season! :)

I don't know why but it bothered me that after dumping a shaker full of pepper and a bottle of tabasco sauce and 11 jalapenos on his sandwich the bald guy had to completely gorge himself on it. Just seemed kind of off. I guess it's because he's m-y-s-t-e-r-i-o-u-s oooooooooooh.

It looks like this series might be becoming The Walter Show. The guy playing his son has the unenviable job of playing straight man though I guess it probably pays OK. The show does seem to be on the edge of coming together but I'm not sure it's quite there yet. I like Anna Torv as the Olivia character, she seems quite natural in the role and I like that they don't glamorize her.

It's an OK show but it seems like one you could forget was on one week and not really notice.

You know, people here seem to want Mark Valley to play Captain America. Well Captain America was brought back from suspended animation, and John Scott was brought back from death. So maybe this can be like a trial run for him. :)

Same here. Usually my interest drops dramatically after the teaser, but this time they kept the same level of suspense and mystery all the way through. Yeah a lot of the story elements were familiar, but I was still curious as hell where it was all leading.

I'm also grateful that we didn't get another ridiculous scifi contraption or cure from Bishop this time. That is something they definitely need to continue.

When are we going to get the plot where Bishop is clueless but his kid saves the day?
