Solid episode. Sure, it was a monster of the week - even if it moved the mythology along a small bit - but I like the way this show handles monsters of the week. It strikes a nice tonal balance by knowing when and when not to take itself too seriously.
Which show is better is obviously a matter of personal taste. Whether Fringe turns out to be a better show or not, it does have the advantage of looking at X-Files and not making the same mistakes. Even with much of the mystery/mythology unsolved in Fringe, it still feels cleaner and less muddled.
X-Files wishes it was this show, for real. Things are being tied together already, there's a focus to the mythology and a momentum you can feel. And I LOVE where the main story is going. No aliens at all, much much more creative. At least *I* think.![]()
