The FBI and an increasingly desperate Peter search for the abducted Olivia... unaware that the man heading the investigation is the one responsible for her disappearance.

At last. Really looking forward to this one.

Also, it looks like Fringe will be coming back for a second season if all goes well.

Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly hinted that the show would be back for a second season:

"I already know ‘Fringe’ is a keeper," he says. "The show’s been a bear creatively because it’s been very ambitious.
They’ve really found the storytelling model now … what you’re going to see in the second half in the year, if you follow the serialized story you will not be disappointed, yet the stories really do reset themselves each week.
I would not expect it to take off after ‘Idol,’ but I do think it will tick up another level," he says.

Wow one o the main villains being an FBI agent in the Fringe Division is a major twist. I thought that the guy that Olivia convicted got drunk and made a mistake with some underage women. They made his crime out to a lot of overzealous prosecution by Olivia even though he was guilty. Now he is a major antagonist? How on earth would he get to investigate her department with their obvious history?

P.S. Doesn’t that giant virus look a lot more like a giant bacterium?

Have to give this one an excellent solely for the catfight (yum). But seriously, this was a great episode. Fringe is turning into a great show.

Very good episode. I really like the way this show is shaping up. I've enjoyed it from the start but I felt that this episode addressed some of the criticisms that have been leveled at it.

I think I will give this one just an average rating. It wasnt bad but it didnt really impress me either.

Am I the only one that doesnt quite like the Olivia character? She is just too moody in my opinion.

Another average episode. Now that Fringe is on during the same timeslot as Scrubs I'll just be watching Scrubs and catching Fringe on Hulu if I have the time. This show just really hasn't grabbed me and I've only given most of the episode average ratings.

I have to give this an 'Excellent'. I was not particularly happy with how this show was going until two episodes ago, when a semblance of an overall story arc started to appear. Now the series seems to be moving at a much better pace.

This episode ALONE had more plot developments in it than most of the episodes of the first half of the season. Abrams almost went overboard with how many major events could occur in the same episode.

I didn't expect Loeb to be captured so fast. I figured he would get away this time, and be captured within a couple of episodes. Obviously I was wrong.

Of course, the only downside to this episode was the fact that Loeb brought up a whole host of new questions. What I don't get about him is, if he was supposedly 'saving' Olivia, why did he tell his wife to whack her? That doesn't fit. Plus, we still have no idea who he works for, or what he's talking about with 'sides'. I do think that one side is Massive Dynamics, and the other might be Loeb's side. I don't believe they are the same.

The FBI agent was revealed to be rogue at the end of the first episode he was in. He also led the group that robbed all the banks by walking through walls to build the transporter to teleport prisoner scientist to American.

I had a feeling he was going to actually be one of the good guys though.

As for FBI internal affairs guy, I was half-expecting him to say his antagonism of Olivia was put-on to hide that he was actually investigating Loeb. Instead, he looks to be one of those walking, talking plot contrivances right out of 24.

Too bad Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Nouri weren't in this episode. :p

LOL at the Pattern.

My favorite thing about Fringe is that it says "Fringe will return in 90 seconds" and my DVR has 30-second skip. So convenient.

Olivia is becoming one of my favorite TV ass-kickers. She's pretty wicked with a firearm and has a mean right cross.

Kind of a so-so episode but the surgery with a frightmask doctor was a creepy image and the tension was good.

Voted Excellent but I meant to give it Above Average. The show keeps getting better and I like all the elements they're putting in place. I could do with just a wee bit more serialization though. I don't mind non-serialized shows at all, but Fringe is kind of a tease. There are ongoing elements there, they just don't use them as often as I like.

They do use them though so I'm happy for now. The main attraction is the characters, anyway. Walter is good times; drugging up bugs and whatnot :bolian:

Nielsons are good, I see.

Had a bit of trouble with her getting away so easily, but maybe that does jibe with the insistence that they were trying to "save" her.

My only gripe is why introduce more questions when you have the observer and other issues to deal with?

But I guess that's in Abrahms et. al's nature....

I just finished watching it on tape and have to say I thought it was pretty good. Overall, I'm still hooked on this series and want to see it continue. This ep certainly did raise some great new questions, which I assume will be touched upon again as the season progresses.

At least I hope they will. This is the first show by Team Abrams that I've watched, so I have no basis for comparison.

This episode was more watchable than most of the others. Dunham's sister seemed to be a pretty hilariously artificial attempt to "humanize" the character we all complain about so much. My favorite Dunham moment; the moment she escapes, she hides her evidence before anyone comes for her. Excellent foresight. Trust no one. I found the most interesting revelation to be that there's two competing amorphous evil conspiracies; I would imagine Massive Dynamics will turn out to be the "good" one, just for a twist.

I think the Massive Dynamic lady might turn out to be good, but that the CEO we've only heard of but never seen who's Walter's rival will be the big bad.
