Friend of mine got me the old Nintendo "Star Trek 25th Anniversary"

Played very little of it so far, but it seems promising. Some strange little visual glitches, but I blame that on the Nintendo console itself rather than the game. It's seen better days, believe it or not.

Wandering around in the Aztec-esque village of cats is amusing enough. Talking to the various officers on the bridge is cool. I keep getting shot at by those damned plants, though.

That's a friend's way of breaking up with you. Your relationship would be more promising if he gave you a sack of poop lit afire.

My parents got that game for me way back when it came out and I was 11 years old. :D I had the Nintendo Power issue with the walkthrough beside me and went through the whole game. I thought it was cool at the time. The PC version of the 25th anniversary gaming spree is obscenely superior though.

Yeah, I hadn't realized they were two totally different games until I tried looking this one up on GameFAQs. I'd love to get my hands on the one for PC eventually, too.

Make sure you get the CD version with all the voiceovers.

In the PC version there was a great chance for ship-to-ship combat if you warped to a system that was not the next sequence of the gameplay.

There's be randomly 1-3 either Romulan birds of prey or Klingon D7's. The combat, riding on the coat-tails of Wing Commander blew my mind at the time and was underused in the game. There should have been a skirmish mode.

I too have the 25th Anniversary game for the classic Nintendo console.

I should revisit it when I have the time.

I had a savegame where I had warped into a system with 4 Elasi pirate ships in it. Since I was dead the moment the screen switched over, the goal was to survive as long as possible before they blew me up. A few times I even took one of the ships down.

Great game. My favorite was the Romulan level, throwing bottles of ammonia down at them like stink bombs.

And all the times and ways you can get a redshirt killed...oh fun. For me at least, getting crushed by a 1 ton boulder dropping 30 feet probably hurt really bad for half a second.

I should still have the PC version somewhere.. I think it was the only Trek game I ever owned.

I enjoyed the NES game. I think I only beat it because Nintendo Power published maps to all the levels, though.

I remember being stuck on the part where you need to feed the butterfly to the Gorn.

Yeah, I used to play it just for the battles half the time. I eventually beat the game, but it was hard as hell and had me pulling my hair out, trying to solve all those puzzles.

oh those were some great star trek games. I remember getting the NES version, and playing hours on end until i beat it. I still have it to this day. Play it every now and then.
I also still have the two pc TOS games. STILL my favorite trek games to this day. And they are the ones that have the voice acting.
