French locals protest coverage of Jolie/Pitt twins

Same here. In fact, here's what I had to say about it:

For what its worth, I’m tired of the Brangelina coverage as well.
The French protest is quite right-the media should be commenting on vital issues, and not on the birth of two kids of famous celebrities. This nonsense has already reached ridiculous levels in the USA alone- the (probably intended) deliberate non-coverage of what’s going on in Iraq (no coverage of the bodies coming home, the troop casualties, the civilian casualties, etc.) People in France, unlike the sheeple in North America, want to hear about the real issues affecting their community and the world, and they don’t give a shit about two American actors who’ve just conceived and given birth to twins. Pitt & Jolie should frankly have had their babies at home, with their own set-up to do so (they’re wealthy enough, certainly!) and let the people of Nice be. As well, the French and international media should know better-this kind of bullshit is worse than what happened to Rita Hayworth during her conception times, and she hated this kind of coverage (she didn’t even want to be an actor, anyway!)as well as what also happened to Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor (which is what Brad & Angelina are now)
Let’s all stop reading and writing this bullshit and start concentrating on the real issues at hand! I gotta tell you, Noam Chomsky was right about how the MSM manufactures the North American sheeple’s collective consent.

How is it their fault that the press is focusing on them instead of the murder? The public's anger is misdirected - they should be mad at the press. Brad and Angelina, weird and famous though they may be, haven't done anything wrong.

Other than the fact that Brad should have stayed with Jennifer Aniston.:techman:

I find both Angelina and Jennifer to be equally hot. We can't be sure why Brad made his choice. Perhaps Aniston had centipedes in her vagina.

I can't say I blame them for being angry. Who cares about Angelina's two brats? There's real news going on.

If people would rather plunk down their money to read celebrity gossip versus the murder of two people they don't even know, then that's their call. I don't see why there should be any expectation that the general public will pay attention to any given murder.

The cops should pay attention. If the cops were slacking, I could see why the family members would be incensed. They have a right to expect the murder to be investigated to the utmost. But why do they care that total strangers aren't paying attention to this murder? Presumably the people who knew the murder victims are paying attention and care. If total strangers don't care, well, that's life. Can't force em to care.

It's idiotic to carp about news stories being ignored or not being paid enough attention to. With TV, newspapers, magazines and the whole frakkin internets, we have more than enough information being blasted at us every minute of every day. It's our job to sort through it all and keep ourselves informed, or uniformed, as we so desire.

I have no trouble at all being far more informed about the Presidential election and Iraq than I am about celebrity gossip, which I know about only by zapping past Entertainment Weekly or whatever it's called and noticing the covers of tabloids while I'm offloading my groceries at the check-out stand. Anyone who chooses to do the same can certainly follow my example. If they choose to do otherwise, that's their business.

This is all just another odious example of a trend I deplore: people who think they have the right to tell others how to live, what to value, how to spent their free time, what to pay attention to. I certainly would never allow anyone to dictate these things to me, so I avoid doing so in regards to others.

It's a fact that some people care more about celebrities than politics, local news stories or current events. It's not a "sad" fact, just a fact. Let people be however they want to be. If they're not interfering with your freedom, how is it any of your concern?

More of your usual trolling, I see. Well, this "sheeple" sees through your obvious BS. If French people don't care about celebrities, who exactly is generating the demand for this news coverage?

The public is acting irrationally. It's probably the same people who read the celebrity gossip for all we know.

How the fuck is it Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's fault? If the protesters actually wanted to make a good statement, they should protest at a major media building, not the hospital.

Since when have you interpreted a big rant as trolling? :vulcan:

I, too, saw it as just another stereotyper looking to fire off a passive-aggressive insult at one nation of people he sees as inferior to another.

Angry, sure - but WHY angry and Brad and Angelina? For being famous? I'm sure they'd rather not have the fucking paparazzi hounding them 24/7.
