French GI Joe trailer

I'll go see it, but I don't like what they've done. Why not just play it straight? Instead of making... "2 Stealth 2 Furious" starring Jason Statham and Vin Diesel?

Because studios are run by morons who have no concept of what they have.

My friend showed me this today. I have to say, nothing about this trailer makes me want to see the movie.

actually the 1980's comics had some good storylines. It is possible to make a good Gi joe movie. Unfortunately this is not going to be it.

I've read every issue and the key word here is "some", the majority of the run is complete shite and the good issues seem to be more accident than design.

Looks a pretty good popcorn movie.

it's a live action movie based on a toyline about two lots of soldiers shooting each other. pretty much anything's going to be good based on that.

The Transformers movie was based on a toyline of giant transforming robots that shoot at each other and there seems to be a fair number of people on this board that would say that movie was crap.

There's a difference between an idea and the execution of an idea.

Transformers problem wasn't the idea of giant transforming robots that shoot at each other, but that it was executed poorly.

According to the producer it is based on "the comics of 1982 and 1983".

Which is funny cuz half the characters in the film weren't created/introduced until after those years. And the overblown scenes shown are very cartoon series-esque. Other bits seem inspired by the comics of just a few years ago (which is not good thing).

"The French are pretty upset." Amusing bit to include in the French trailer.

Looks fun to me. It really does feel like the animated series brought into live action. Over the top technology and action pieces, vehicles with extra weaponry built in. I will however be seriously disappointed if "Yo Joe!" is yelled at least once in the movie!

I want to see the cartoon brought to life, and that looks like it...gloriously ridiculous! I'm actually looking forward to it now.

Yeah. The moment that did it for me was seeing the panel swing out from the side of the vehicle and fire a missile. That feels like it's right out of the 80's.

If Transformers was a poor movie, how come it is number 30 on the all time list of highest-grossing films?
