Yeah, I once took a quick look at the demo and it felt quite professional. I didn't play all the way through it, though. I'm gonna wait for the full game.

You know, how come BSG fans can make something so awesome in their spare time, yet the "professional" game makers haven't been able to make anything more than a mediocre-at-best game? (I speak of the game available on XBOX Live)

Specifically I'm talking about 5 Days A Stranger, 7 Days A Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, and 6 Days A Sacrifice which are collectively known as "The Chzo Mythos" or "The John DeFoe quadrilogy".

They are utterly fantastic, and I can't recommend them enough to fans of the genre. The man's genius knows no bounds.

I played that before, and it was pretty good. The English is not always perfect, since it's not the author's first language, but that's a minor quibble.

While not finished yet, I suggest Doctor Who fans should check out the demo for the fan-made adventure game Doctor Who: Time Snare. It features the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith.

Yeah, except you can only "move" a certain number of times per day.

Limitation on gameplay = FAIL

Limitation on gameplay actually, here, = way to induce more gameplay by scrounging for items to give you more adventures. And, as someone who has spent hours in front of a screen playing that game, many of them consecutive, I'm actually sort of glad they have a mechanism which eventually gives you a reason to go do something else.
