Freecreditreport.com - need info please

Hi all. I need to get my credit report for myself ans my wife and I'm thinking about using this site but I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with it. I understand they require a credit card # in order to do it. Now is it really free or not? Will I find a mysterious charge or are will they just be up front about it once you sign up saying something like "you free credit report will cost ----."?

Do they make you pay for something else thus making the report free but in order to get it I must buy something? Will it be ALL the info including the credit number rating from all three reporting agencies? Just need some help, thanks everyone.

Freecreditreport.com is a SCAM. They're not even free (notice their fine print: "offer applies with enrollment in Triple Advantage" - that costs money). Don't go there.

Go here: Annual Credit Report.

You are entitled to one free report a year. As long as you go through that site. Ignore all others.

I recently tried getting mine through http://www.annualcreditreport.com but it didn't work, so I printed out the mail-in request instead. We'll see what happens.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere recently that "Freecreditreport" in "Freecreditreport.com" was a giant misnomer and that it's a big honkin' scam, with cleverly hidden surcharges about which the instructions regarding how to cancel the service are even more cleverly hidden. Be warned.

You are allowed to get one free copy of your credit report a year. Start with your bank, and ask for one.

Don't pay anyone for it, unless you're asking for a second or third one in a single year.

And remember that there are 3 major credit reporting agencies - don't request one from each at the same time - to have the best ongoing handle, request one each 4 months.

Thanks folks! Good info. I tried http://www.annualcreditreport.com and I think I got just what I needed, easy and free. Glad I didn't even go the freecreditreport.com, something didn't feel right about it and I hate their commercials with the white hot hate of a thousand suns! Thanks friends!
