Free global Internet: Facebook 1000, 200 foot drone fleet

Yep :(. Sadly, it's become so monetary driven, that's there's no chance for a free internet. As for speed internet wise, you pretty much have to rich in the US to get speed that's any where near where Japan has in that regard. It's sick and depressing to be honest.

The people who complain the most about bandwidth are the ones using it either to download porn, pirate copyrighted material or waste their time watching Netflix/Hulu/Youtube.

I was meaning in regards to actual speed. Not bandwidth. That whole argument is just bs imo. And that is such a stereotype. Not to mention a narrow viewpoint. People who go onto forums (such as this one) use bandwidth as well, in order to load pictures, video, etc.

As for watching Netflix, etc., that isn't a waste of bandwidth imo. There's nothing wrong with doing so after a long day. And to include it with said other topics you mentioned, makes no sense at all. It's a strawman's view. Because watching Netflix, Youtube and/or Hulu, isn't illegal.

The bandwidth issue is just corporations excuse to not let others watch tv on their computers. They DO not like it taking away from their BOTTOM line. They want people watching cable tv. They don't want to lose the revenue. So they'll do their best to keep their customers, even if it means making it REALLY hard for anyone to watch anything online (legally, that is).
