The torch was passed to Maurice Jones-Drew, following a Monday morning
meeting at which Taylor was given the option to retire or be released by the team.
He elected to be released.

“He clearly wanted to play football so, out of respect to him, we’re doing
this early so he’ll have a chance to catch on (with another team),” Del Rio
told reporters on Monday afternoon.

We'll miss you. Best of luck wherever he goes, I'll be rooting for him.

Taylor rushed for 11,271 yards in his 11-year Jaguars career.
He is 16th on the all-time NFL rushing list.

Certainly he'll be in the Jags Ring of Honor with 11 years as a leader
for the team, and definitely a Hall of Fame contender, especialy if he
gets the chance to move up the charts more with another team.

Fred Taylor has always been a class act and I'm not even a Jags fan. he also got a bad rap as being injury prone because he suffered some notable ones. People fail to mention he started 32 straight games at one point.

Oh god, if he stooped to playing for the Pats that would suck so bad...
He want's to stay in Florida though, his family lives there and he was
born there and went straight from UF to Jacksonville, I'd like to see
him goto Tampa Bay and give me a reason to root for them.
