This Monday will see the launch of a new series on CBC Television in Canada: Frankie Drake Mysteries, a spinoff of Murdoch Mysteries:

This series will start off in 1921, and perhaps has echoes of Australia's Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries - which is set in 1920s Melbourrne.

There is a 6-part webisode posted to the CBC's YouTube channel:

Been looking forward to it. I haven't been following Murdoch as much lately, as I've felt the stories have been becoming more and more gruesome and less interesting, so I didn't realize this would be a spinoff.

I'm sure things will improve, but I felt the first episode was less than impressive. The mystery itself felt uninspired, and despite the era's setting, felt a tad too modern. And I loved Miss Fisher's.
