Out Of My Vulcan Mind

Fox has unveiled their schedule for next season, although it doesn't yet include X Factor, so there may be some pretty heavy revisions when that lands on the fall schedule. They're probably holding that scheduling until later to keep the other networks guessing and fretting. You can read about their schedule here.

Here are their 2010/2011 scripted shows by longevity:

One-hour

House - season 7
Bones - season 6
Fringe - season 3
Lie to Me - season 3
Glee - season 2
Human Target - season 2
The Good Guys - season 1 (currently scheduled to start airing this summer, perhaps pushed back to the fall)
Lonestar - season 1
Ride-Along - season 1
Terra Nova - season 1

Half-hour

The Simpsons - season 22
Family Guy - season 9
American Dad - season 6
The Cleveland Show - season 2
Bob's Burgers - season 1
Mixed Signals - season 1
Raising Hope - season 1
Running Wilde - season 1

I couldn't possibly watch one of those shows on the list. I'd be thinking "Raspberry. There's only one man who would dare give me the raspberry!" the whole time.

only two questions

1) what replaces The Wanda Sykes Show? (ok FOX does not know itself yet)
2) Has So You Think You Can Dance? been axed?

wouldnt be reported true, but I guess its future is undecided, if the 2010 series has not aired yet, then 2011 is still up in the air.

Fridge is still in the death slot.

Dancing will be on starting in two weeks supposedly even through I haven't seen a single ad for it.

Wonda Sykes has been canceled, but they have no replacement.

Deadline Hollywood passes along some of what was said at Fox's upfront:

“We’re taking a number of big swings,” Fox’s entertainment president Kevin Reilly said Monday morning about the network’s schedule for next season.

“I love the night, he said of the all-comedy Tuesday, consisting of Glee and new half-hour Raising Hope and Running Wilde. “It’s our chance to turn on the lights in live-action comedy.

Turning on the lights was Reilly’s favorite metaphor during the call. He also brought it up when talking about reuniting with Greg Garcia after My Name Is Earl and Shawn Ryan after The Shield.

“When I needed to turn the lights on at NBC, Greg did it with Earl, and I think he will do it again here,” he said of Garcia’s new comedy Raising Hope.

On Shawn Ryan’s new midseason cop drama Ride-Along: “Many know what he did was turn on the lights at FX with The Shield".

Reilly heaped praise on new drama Lonestar, calling it “a very cool show, a sophisticated and daring soap, a modern Dallas set against the Texas oil industry and a complex character study.”

Touting first-ever Thursday season win over NBC in the 18-49, Reilly noted that this is the first time ever Fox has brought back Thursday night intact.

And on Friday, with Human Target and The Good Guys, “we have a legitimate shot at taking the night with shows that are truly compatible.”

Reilly and Fox chairman Peter Rice deflected questions about post-Simon Cowell plans for American Idol, noting that the matter will be addressed after the end of the season. A little piece of news: Auditions for Idol’s next season will start later than usual, in September, and there will be a Cowell sendoff .

As for Sons of Tucson, Rice wouldn’t confirm that the freshman comedy has been officially canceled, only noting that “it will complete its run in that summer” and that “stranger things have happened.”

Rice also said the network plans to continue to program late-night on Saturday but hasn’t decided yet what it will succeed the recently canceled Wanda Sykes Show.

Terra Nova is the only thing in that lineup that interests me. Here's some details.

In the year 2149 the world is dying. The planet is overdeveloped, overcrowded and overpolluted. With the majority of plant and animal life extinct, devotion to science has brought mankind to the brink of destruction, but has also provided its only hope for salvation. Knowing there is no way to reverse the damage to the planet, a coalition of scientists has managed to open up a fracture in the space-time continuum, creating a portal to prehistoric Earth. This doorway leads to an amazing world, one that allows for a last-ditch effort to save the human race ... possibly changing the future by correcting the mistakes of the past.

The series centers on the Shannon family as they join the tenth pilgrimage of settlers to TERRA NOVA, the first colony of humans in this second chance for civilization. JIM SHANNON, a devoted father with a checkered past, guides his family through this new land of limitless beauty, mystery and terror. Jim's wife, ELISABETH SHANNON, is a trauma surgeon chosen through a global lottery as a new addition to Terra Nova's medical team. JOSH SHANNON is their son, mourning the girl he left behind, as he's torn between two role models - his father and the charismatic COMMANDER FRANK TAYLOR, the leader of the settlement, and the heroic first pioneer through the time portal. MADDY SHANNON, Jim and Elizabeth's teen daughter, is as independent and adventurous as her parents, but her distrust of authority soon leads her on a dangerous path.

In addition to blue skies, rolling rivers and lush vegetation, TERRA NOVA offers new opportunities and fresh beginnings to its recent arrivals, but the Shannons have brought with them a familial secret that may threaten their citizenship in this utopia. Additionally these adventurers soon discover that this healthy, vibrant world is not as idyllic as it initially appears. The areas surrounding Terra Nova are filled with dangerous dinosaurs, and other prehistoric threats, as well as external forces that may be intent on destroying this new world before it begins.

I love it! We fraked up Earth, now let's go back in time and frak up prehistoric Earth! :D

Anyone wanna take a stab at fantasy casting? Josh Holloway for the lead. He's old enough to have a teenage kids.
