Fox continues to f*** up! (Aka Fringe is as good as dead!)

Yeah I don't get the VD bashing--it has a great cast especially considering it is a teen show, it has a great mythology, it is heavily serialized, no filler, approaches its subject matter with a serious tone instead of a dumb campy one like the overrated True Blood, it has avoided the dreaded sophomore slump that so many other shows experience(Heroes, Desperate Housewives, Lost etc) and in my opinion was the only one of two shows last year that was *consistently* good--the 2nd being Legend of the Seeker--and so far this season it is the only show to be consistently good out of both new and returning shows.

It should be the CW's darling--there is no other show on that network that is as good and CW needs every good show it can get.

FOX basically has said what Fringe needs to do to get a 4th season...

Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly’s said “Fringe has a very particular, loyal audience,” Reilly said. With the show picking up almost half of its viewership via DVR, he doesn’t expect the sci-fi series to take a big ratings hit in moving to Fridays where it will be paired with solid reality performer Kitchen Nightmares.

“If Fringe could stay near the current levels, we’ll get a big trade-up on Friday and will solve our problem there.”

I guess FOX would like over 5 million viewers to at least begin to build a base on friday nights.

I will miss you Fringe.

Let the spamming of the Fox offices begin now.

There isn't a chance in hell that Fringe will hold 4.5-5 million viewers on a Friday! None! More so when there isn't even a lead in for Fringe. I doubt I'll even be watching it then, I try to get laid on Fridays.

Well you will have to stop in,that way at least one of you will have a chance of achieving your aim.:p;)

Who usually wins Friday nights anyway? It seems all networks expect to do poorly. Really all you should require is a show that stays out of the red to keep it on the air on Fridays.

Staying out of the red on Fridays will likely be a problem for Fringe as it's a fairly pricey show.

CBS generally wins the night in total viewers with shows that appeal to an older audience that stays home Fridays, but their demo ratings are low enough to put those shows in danger despite their overall number of viewers. Blue Bloods, for example, is drawing 10-11 million viewers, but has a demo lower than a lot of shows drawing half that audience. ABC has put together a line-up of cheap reality and magazine shows that have been building up in their demo performance and won the night this last Friday.

latest time shifted numbers came out and Fringe scored big again. 2nd largest jump in the 18-49 demo (0.8 increase) to a 2.6 rating. The show also increased to 6.5 million viewers

ffs people watch it LIVE.

People will never watch it live.

Fucking problem is the lame ass rating system itself. DVR shouldn't be able to jump past commercials. If that was fixed the ratign system ,while still useless outdate bullshit, would work better.

Re: Fox continues to fuck up! (Aka Fringe is as good as dead!)

This will not only kill off FRINGE on FOX ...

I dunno. That's the slot where the X-files originally aired and did quite well.
It did so "well" that Fox moved it to another timeslot. ...

Because they thought it would do even better on another night not because it was dying on Fridays. Look at how the networks move hit shows around to try and win new nights all the time.
That's what they tried with X-files.

While I don't hate VD I find it extremely unrealistic (I do love a couple of the actors, and the atmosphere of the show, even if I find it extremely unbelievable). Characters don't behave rationally, people and situations don't fit the universe they have created, and while I do like some of the actors, some of them are extremely poor in my eyes.

It was one thing for Buffy to not treat itself in a realistic manner, it played up its camp angle, this show doesn't. It attempts to be a far more grounded reality then the Buffy verse, and yet still fails to deliver realistic reactions for the actions that occur in that town.

But the main reason I want to see VD gets crushed (is nothing really specific to VD), but more specific to the 8pm hour slot of Thursday. Since the CW formed, with Smallville and then VD getting that slot numerous people and sites (and industry people) have talked about their performance in relationship to (at times) pretty much every other other show the CW programs, yet really failed to consider the soft competition that hour has had over the last five years. Or take a show like 90210 (of which I do not like in the slightest, would take a 100 VD shows over 90210) which has always had to deal with Idol in the Spring and so many sights take its larger then normal Spring drops to be due to its quality (or lack there of), yet really not take into account the direct competition it had with the juggernaut of the w18-34 demo. Even Smallville when it faced Thursday specials of Idol would take a significant dive.

But I don't want VD to be permanently harmed (as I would think the CW would switch the schedule up if that occurred, I just want to see a few weeks of what real competition can do to The number one show on the CW.
