OK I've been a long time fan of star trek for years. I knew Picards adventures before I knew my times tables. But this is the first time I've been on a trek forum. so the cadet ranking to the left is quite accurate.

That in mind can anyone tell me how to get on an avatar? Every time I click Edit Avatar it just gives me the option of Do Not Use Avatar and nothing else.

You need to wait until a certain number of posts before you are allowed an avatar. Can't remember how many.

PMs and Avatars will work, I think, after you've been here 2 weeks and also made 50 posts.

As someone who just recently joined the boards, I can confirm that it is 50 posts (and probably 2 weeks, but I believe it took me longer than 2 weeks to get 50 posts. I'm kinda quiet.) You also get a signature, and the capability to do PMs.
