The mods have left a note that "not every little thing needs a thread, but this is not a little thing.

I just heard on Facebook that Daniel Fleetwood has passed away. I am saddened that this young dedicated Star Wars fan and kindred spirit is no longer with us. I am very moved by the support he got as his dying wish was to see The Force Awakens. Apparently, JJ Abrams called him personally and Daniel was able to screen a rough edit of the film. He was also made an honorary member of the 501st.

Here's to Daniel and others like him who are Star Wars fans, and who might not be able to go out and see the movie with everyone else.

I am not a big fan of Star Wars but this story was wonderful and very sad at the same time. I am glad he got to see the movie before he passed away and kudos to the fans the the powers that be that made this happen. My condolences to his family & friends.

Great for him! That's bad news but also good news in a strange way.

That story leaves a lump in my throat. His wife broke the news on Facebook Thursday, according to this article.
