Now one could say with quite certainty that the majority of Trek fans, as evidenced by those on this very message board, are of the liberal or leftist persuasion, no? And these are the people who always tout "change" as something to be embraced and/or sought after. Yet, when it comes to their baby, Star Trek, or even Star "Han Shot First" Wars, "change" seems to freak them out.
Is this trailer eluding to a radical departure of Roddenberry's rather boring "canon" (if you wanna call it that)? Yes, and I say thank God for that. Because what J.J. Abrams is doing here, IMO, is breathing some much needed life into a franchise that has been DOA since the end of DS9 in '99. I might actually get interested in the franchise again after this film.
