As part of the Film4 weekend, I saw Trekkies 2 the other day.

I lasted through 7/10 - Star Trek 5 was just on too late for me on Saturday and I gave up at 9pm yesterday to watch Downton Abbey - although that doesn't really enhance my street cred among any faction does it?

Then you need to see a documentary on football fans, or rock groupies, or maybe the hilarious movie, "Best in Show" (saire on dog shows). Fans = fanatics.

Why? Trekkies 1 and 2 are what made me want to become an active part of the ST fan community, join the TrekBBS, talk to people, go to conventions. They seemed like people who had a lot of fun and weren't afraid of being themselves, and I respect that.

I was watching Star Trek III during this Film Four Special and I realised they'd cut it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That scene where Kirk kills Kruge was cut to ribbons. That bit where Kirk repeatedly kicks him and says 'I have had enough of you!' was cut!!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it!!
