For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

When Alex decided to hack and leak the automation secrets, he should have had an exit strategy planned. His best option would have been to get on his motorcycle and take off and join the N. Korean and become another defector at the ISN Base, before the shit hit the fan.
I think the last few episodes have shown that he isn't a forward thinker. Hell, there were moments during the protest rally where he held back until he saw how everyone was reacting. That changed when he led the newest round of vocal unrest during the riot.

what a season 5 episode 5 of for all mankind

after what alexsander did with lillian is most likely what edward probley would have done too

and also what eddies friends did at the protests is most likely what he would have done too

Anyone want to place odds on whether or not that tree survives to the end of the season?

Or the Martians make it their Last Stand point - would be a bit over the top and obvious but what the hell.

When Miles confronted his daughter he hammered reality home - she was thinking about losing her college position and brushed it off while he thought ahead that this could mean decades of jail time and practically a destroyed life. You could see it in her face she didn't think that far or realistically ahead.

This might be the old fart in me talking but i see this much in people of their age - noble ideals, rushing into action but not fully thinking it through considering all the variables. Young eco activists are right in wanting to protect the environment, that is a noble and important goals but not just a few then go about it with immediate dismantling of industries yet none can answer realistically what will happen with the workers who rely on that income? It is this single mindedness that is a problem and consequences can appear that you never thought of much less planned for that someone with either more life or job experience will.

The Soviet playbook would be to isolate the area with the protesters, and pump in knockout gas. When the protesters are immobilized, the police take them into custody.

I just recently came back to the show after not having Apple TV for, I don't know how long. Since I couldn't remember where I left off, I just started at the beginning on a TV with the sound off and captions on and let it run.

I've remembered a lot of it now, especially the scenes of JSC after the bombing with actual footage of the Oklahoma City Murrah Federal Building. That hits hard for me because I was not far from the site and I can still feel the impact of the explosion.

Currently, I'm early into the fourth season.

Ron Moore, Joe Menosky, Junie Lowry-Taylor are names that are familiar to all of us, and I'm sure that there are probably many others who worked on Trek and other things we have watched and appreciated. Thanks to them for giving us our kind of entertainment.

I feel like they are basically doing a inverse of reality and this whole thing happening on MARS is going to be this world's version of Jan 6 , except the rioters are left leaning, much like how the attack on NASA a few seasons back became this world's 9/11.

I got a theory that we might see this world on the brink of falling apart. Things are getting bad back on Earth and now Mars and then first contact with actual aliens is made and everything changes. The final season will be humans dealing with what it means if this world had it's kind of 'First Contact" situation much like in Star Trek.

Another theory just came to me. What if when they make contact with aliens it's like in the movie 'Contact" were the aliens take the form of Jodi Foster's dad. I could see aliens making contact with Kelly in the form of looking like Ed. Reunited with her dad but not really her dad.

watched all season 5 episodes so far tonight.
  • wonderful, how they handled Ed's last heroics including his last flight and passing - including all the people callbacks - loved the enormous Olympus Mons amount of parmesan on the spaghetti :guffaw:
  • Hi Bob
  • Kelly spaceship flying AND looking for life FTW
  • Margo and Aleida = just fantastic! hope we still see them interacting at least once again coming up with tech/science solutions for a problem.
  • I like the reporter girl/son of gone soft Miles.
  • Miles and the police chief will clash for a final time.
  • I never know with Dev, him being part of the asteroid thief's was such a positive twist for me, sucks he seems to be firmly on the bad side yet again, guess everything for his ambition. results are the only thing mattering.
  • ugh, another drawn out riot and Alex Baldwins space marine buddy will return for sure.
  • holy motherf*cker for that KGB comeback from Siberia...
  • Was very confused, as I initially thought the wannabe space marine lady was the result of Gordo having a secret kid and not Danny and that she was the the suspicious space cop lady...

I got side-tracked, so I only just watched Season 5 Episode 4 now.

First of all, great unofficial memorial service for Ed Baldwin. I won't lie, after Ed's death, I wanted to give it some space before I put the next episode on.

Second, I'm still so impressed how much more developed the Mars Settlement has become. The Helios offices look great, and so do all the other sets.

Third, super-timely: the concern about workers being replaced by automation, and they ran with it, turning it into gold. The best part is Alex leaking what he found out, then seeing NNC reporting it. I notice FAMK cellphones or thicker than ours IRL. I figure that's probably to handle Earth-Mars communication better.

Last but not least: Avery into the season white-hot. She's a marine who wanted to join the service just like her father and his father before him, her exact words, but wants to put as much distance between herself and her biological father, Danny, as possible. Can't say I blame her.

I'll putting on Episode 5 soon. Then I'll be caught up. They left it at a Hell of a cliffhanger.

I'm enjoying season 5 very much so far. After binging the first 4 seasons the last month and a half or so. It's been an extremely enjoyable series for me. Same with Foundation. Another great scifi show. With Star Trek running on empty it's so nice to have a couple of scifi shows that have given me hope that there are still well written scifi shows out there.

Trying not to sound clichéd here, but that was edge-of-your-seat stuff.

The opening few minutes was surprising enough with that reintroduction, but to end like that is honestly a bit frustrating when the build-up was so intense. In a good way, of course, as I need to know what happens next. :D

I think that was more of a Oklahoma City bombing attack. 9/11 was a foreign attack on US soil. Oklahoma City was Americans who carried out an attack targeting the US government with a truck bomb at a federal building.

In fact the year both happened were identical. OKC was in 1995. The For All Mankind bombing was also in 1995. Also with a truck (well van) bomb.

oh ok

The next step of the escalation is a go.

It's pretty much proceeding as i was expecting. Miles taking over from the hotheads and calming the immediate situation down for now by ensuring nobody else is hurt and that operations continue to prevent Happy Valley from blowing up.

Now the question is who can hold out more in this siege - Earth desperately needs Iridium to keep its economy going, it has apparently become this wonder key element without an economy can't work anymore but Happy Valley is not self sustaining and needs food, replacement parts and medication.

Marines are getting mobilized and everybody is arming up, this will get super ugly fast.

A few notes:

- Is Dev actually that stupid to wander the base alone without protection? He is one of the instigators of the entire crisis, everybody knows his face and he is lucky he wasn't killed on the spot. Given that he was able to return to Helios i wonder what has happened that they let him go, he's one of the most high profile prisoners they could get. Maybe he made a deal with the protestors to do something. I'm not sure what but his heart and future is on Mars now so i could very well see him switching sides and aiding Mars even if for different reasons than the protestors.

- Alex and Lily - finally.

- still don't see the point of the Titan mission storywise but maybe it'll be a contributing factor to resolve the Mars/Earth conflict

- loved the levelheadedness of Celia, she and Miles make a good team by trying to defuse the situation in a non-violent way and her getting the heavier weapons out of everybody's reach was the right call

- god i love to hate Irina and her snake like scheming

- Lee is back, wonder what role is he geing to play in the resolution of the conflict

Man, the tension is killing me having to wait another week to see this continue but wiaiting for the season to finish before binging it is also not an option
