Foldable TVs. Because oh...why not?

TVs don't "need" to do anything--even exist. Flexible screens have a lot of uses, most notably that they could be stored and transported easily.

There are likely a ton of uses for displays that are foldable, rollable, and flexible that can be stored away.

When I was a kid - the idea that someone would willingly watch a TV show on a 7" screen was ludicrous. Everybody wanted the biggest and baddest TV for their man cave and small screens were going to go the way of the dodo.

I guess I was wrong.

The last piece of technology needed for the EFC Global. It's pretty much an iPhone with a collapsible screen.

At least it is in a large format.

I really don't like the popular trend toward portability to the great detriment of quality (with both movies and music).

This. I've went from 25" to 32" to 40" to 50" over the last fifteen years.

I'm at 32 for TV and 22-27 for computer monitors. And I doubt we will ever go higher than 32 - I would rather switch to a projector if we are doing that. For us, we don't want TV to be the focus of a room. In fact, since 2007, we don't technically watch TV - streaming only. I could see putting in projector and retractable screen one day, but a big boat anchor in the living room isn't our style. Different strokes and all.

On the other hand, dropping to a pad or phone is not really an option. It's not social and we don't need any more reason to not be social. I listen to the "kids" at work talking about being mobile only - but I kinda think that really boring and lo-fi. How do you watch a show with other folks.

TVs have been getting bigger so I'm not sure what you mean.

I mean watching TV shows shot in high definition, as well as feature films, on a little iphone or tablet with earbud headphones on the bus ride to work instead of watching at home on a decent-sized TV with a good audio setup, thereby dramatically diminishing the whole experience.

And don't get me started on the horrible mp3 format for music. :ack:

And the worst part is, some will tell you they don't see or hear any difference!

I have an easy solution for you if you don't like those things: don't do them. No one is taking your big screen TVs or vinyl records away.
