flash drive question

hope this will be easy.

I want to transfer some DViX video files from my desktop to my laptop. I put some of them on my jump drive.. but I couldn't see the files when i plugged the flash drive to my laptoip.

I plugged it back into my desktop, and I could see the divx files, but they were not bright. I created shortcuts for and the shortcuts were bright. I was able to see the shortcuts for them even on my laptop, and the videos will launch and play if I click on the shortcuts.

However, I want to move them from the flash onto my laptop poermanently. I can't see the filmes on the shortcuts. According to the Properties tab, the target files are in the E drive but the jump drive itself is the D drive. I am confused.

It sounds like the files are hidden for some reason. I have no idea why that would be, but if that's the case the solution is to simply show hidden files on your laptop. In XP, it's under the "view" tab under Tools>Folder Options. You could try unchecking the "hidden" box in the file properties (using your desktop, of course).

Just to add, the shortcuts don't work because the drive is getting assigned a different drive letter on the desktop than on the laptop.
