Fix an episode---Turnabout Intruder

All you need to fix this episode is to include a line of dialogue that clearly refutes Lester's delusion.

And remember Lester said, "Your world of starship Captains excludes women." She referred to Kirk rather than Starfleet. She was enraged and embittered because Kirk chose his career rather than be tied to her.

'Fraid not. Pretty much every line that references women in particular is involved in sexism, as I said already, and now I'm just repeating myself, as code either for a glass ceiling or, in the case of the last line of the series, for women accepting their place. That code, the source of the objections, needs to be actually expunged, to fix the episode.
No.

No.

There's only one reply to that: No.

There's nothing to fix. Toss it in the trash. TOS would just be better without it, IMHO.

OK, I won't wimp out. There is always a chance to fix things.

First of all, the special effects were just crap. They could have done better, even for that time.

Secondly, Kirk hams it up as a woman in a man's body. No, I think Janice Lester wouldn't have been so utterly stupid. I don't really want to expend much thought on this miserable episode, but all I can say is that the fix would be to introduce some other means to trip things up for Janice.

What would happen is that Janice apparently turns out to have been infected by some kind of illness. The symptoms come upon her body while Kirk is inside her. She's basically going to die. McCoy can't do anything to save her, because the drug they need is too far away. And that's when that cohort of hers doesn't want Captain Kirk's death on his conscience. He fesses up. And then all those "little flaws" in Kirk's character begin to make sense. Janice had been doing a good job of it, and might have gotten away with it all, if her devious plan hadn't been revealed.

Spock finds a way to use his Vulcan mind meld to incur the transfer. So none of that goofy look on Kirk's face as the transfer "weakens" from time to time. Spock would be the key to undoing Janice's treachery.

The one time live-action Uhura could legitimately be in command in CATSPAW, she and Chekov were ordered around on the bridge by a recurring player with two previous appearances. Never before, and never again.

And in another case "Squire of Gothos".......

Leslie sits in the center seat while the male crew is on Gothos! Uhura can't even take the chair away from an extra.
