First Trans Fashion Magazine Launched.

^I disagree entirely! I was exposed to crossdressers at a young age, and I turned out just fine, thank you.

I respect your right to disagree. However, my kids will not be exposed to these types of lifestyles until they're old enough to have it explained to them in the proper context. If you have children, do with them what you will.

I find myself caring less than I already did about who is wearing what. "Gender" is an artificial social construct, and in my opinion concerning a thing as vacuous and unimportant as the aesthetic exercise known as 'fashion', wholly arbitrary and without reasonable foundation. The only way I can see a person harmed by the sight of a transsexual (or anyone) adorned in the gender-specific dress (again, defined strongly and arbitrarily) of their choice is the harm caused to that person from immersion in a society in dire need of reexamining its priorities.

But then again, some people treat my relatively pedestrian unwillingness to sacrifice the health of my healing bones for a pair of cute heels and my disinclination to slather my face with foundation a grievous affront to some vague yet vital aesthetic standard they feel we all must conform to, so why wouldn't they get bent out of shape at the more obvious and non normative sight of a trans person expressing their identity through clothing?

I find the outright fetishistic interest in fashion displayed by many people to be a tedious, dull and empty distraction. I pity people who use it as a bludegeoning vehicle for petty judgements and baseless hysteria, and I pity their targets as it can be so detrimental. I guess I just don't get it. :p

Your agenda would probably be better served by showing them the material when they are young children so you can get the "explaining" you want to do into their head without having to work through too much cognitive thought. Most kids tend to be tolerant instinctively, but I'm sure you've worked hard to block that. Still, there's only so much you can do. As kids get older they tend to think of things more critically and it's harder to control who they meet. Before you know it they are running into homosexuals, transvestites, trangenders, people with different color skin and everything. It's a mess. Pull out those magazines now and rant in front of the kids with an edited version of your sig, (which does not mention transgedered people and implies female prostitutes get into heaven, which is a hell of a loop hole) and you may be able to have your brood making the world a little less tolerant for years to come.

Good luck!:techman:

Good post. :bolian:

No, I think you do get it just fine, 'cuz I happen to agree. :)

As for the topic at hand: A big fat "MEH" for that one. Apart from work clothes, my sole interest in what I wear is limited to exactly how I can express my total and unequivocal support for the baseball teams of my choice, on any particular day. So I say let anyone wear what they want.

That being said, there is an auto repair store a mile from my house which often advertises transmission service with this sign:

TRANNY
SERVICE
SPECIAL

:guffaw:

And I had zero exposure to cross dressers and started wearing girl stuff when I was fourteen. I'm just fine too.

Parents have to make a long series of incredibly important decisions over the course of nearly two decade. There's a scary thin line separating being over-protective and throwing the kids to societies wolves. My folks let me see the real world while still allowing me the to remain a child for as long as possible.

Most kids tend to be tolerant instinctively...
So ... you've never actual met a child before?:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

T'Girl

Interesting. I hope they find the market they're looking for. :D

I was a child for quite some time and I tended to hang around them, so I have some experience, yes. Your (snarky and condescendingly delivered) point is well taken, though. Some kids are bullies. However, that is largely a societal thing. Consider children who grew up during segregation. There are plenty of stories of kids who would go to the park or be playing in the neighborhood and start making friends with a black kid without knowing it was "wrong." It was only after someone told them it was they knew not to do it. Kids can be bratty to one another by nature, but ostracism usually comes because one kid starts it and others follow because they feel it is the proper and/or safe thing to do. They haven't developed the ability to think for themselves yet and accept what is given to them at face value. That's why it's so vital for Sandbagger to start his social indoctrination early.

While I filly support the rights of adults to purchase or publish whatever they want, this magazine certainly is not "for everybody". It should especially be kept away from children.

Also it appears to feature transsexuals and crossdressers.

^^ Now they have competition.

Maybe they should have cross-dressers from various historical cultures, just to show how arbitrary fashion is. :rommie:

Are you sure you're a girl? :p I can never understand why anyone gets so worked up about "fashion." Just put on some nice fucking clothes and go on your way. I don't understand why it has to be some kind of damn contest.
