Hello! I was wondering if there are any FIRST Robotics Alumni, participants, or volunteers on this site. If so, could you introduce yourself and what you've done with FIRST? Also, note if there has been a link from FIRST or Star Trek to your passion in science and technology.
For those who don't know what FIRST is, it is a global nonprofit STEM program that teaches kids engineering skills in a sports-like format. Here is a link to their website: https://www.firstinspires.org/

I have been involved with FIRST for seven years, three in FIRST LEGO League (middle school robotics) and four in FIRST Tech Challenge. I currently coach eleven FIRST LEGO League teams and volunteer at many local FIRST events. I teach programming workshops and do robot demonstrations to get kids interested in STEM. Star Trek definitely was one of my earlier motivators in STEM and FIRST greatly increased that motivation.
