First look at Sophie Turner As Lara Croft

I would prefer that Hayley Atwell played Lara Croft, she wants to play Croft and she got the looks.
While I'd be down for Hayley Atwell as Lara Croft, at forty-three she is older than the other actresses who have been cast. Sophie Turner is currently twenty-nine, Alicia Vikander was around the same age when she did her Tomb Raider movie while Angelina Jolie was twenty-five when she did her first Tomb Raider movie. Like it or not, it does seem studios want someone in her mid-to late twenties to play Lara Croft. Hell, if this show gets a second season, Sophie Turner will become the oldest live action Lara Croft actress.

Right. This is the James Bond dilemma all over again.

They need someone young enough to play the character at least for ten years. I'm not saying Haley could have played an older experienced Lara Croft. That would something that hasn't been done yet.

Would they want to see an older Lara Croft who just had a baby? A small majority might but that's not how the character was envisioned.

I get that, but aren't the most Bond actors in their late 30 and 40's?

Hayley Atwell would work for a one-off or something featuring an older and experienced Lara Croft, and if they went with such a project, I think Rhona Mitra should get dibs. I would also much rather see Atwell as the lead in a Cruise-less continuation of Mission: Impossible, which they should seriously do (with a heavily reduced budget compared to the last two, obviously).

Anyway, what exactly is wrong with Sophie Turner?

After Dead Reckoning came out, I had assumed Atwell taking over Mission: Impossible was the plan, but now it sounds like Tom Cruise isn't as done as they thought.
And Atwell does voice Lara in the Netflix animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, which just released it's second season last month. Here's the season 1 trailer

I know it's live action, but at least it's something.
As for Sophie Turner, I'll admit I was a bit surprised by her casting, but she's a good actress so I'm sure she can pull it off. And the costume's good, the costume in general isn't anything that extraordinary, just a green tank top and short shorts, so what we got is about what I was expecting. My only issue is I find the glasses a little goofy looking.

Oh, I didn't know that. The only one of the games I've played more than a few minutes of was the first reboot game.
