~~~~~~Thank You~~~~~~
Seriously,
TNG Looks Great! Really.
I still haven't Finished S1, BUT, I'm having Fun Watching THIS
Just one Question: Do it gets Better, or Worse over time?
It gets a hell of a lot better.
Like.
A hell of a lot better.
If you're cool with it in the first season, there's a pretty strong chance you'll be a big-time Trek enthusiast (if you aren't already; not sure) by the time you're done. Of course this is just my analysis; there are always going to be folks who feel differently. But this is one of those things where most tend to agree that the first season or two are not as strong as much of what comes thereafter.
Edit: Oh, I just noticed your thing about Troi. Yeah, you've seen DS9, then. For my money you've already seen the best of Trek! But TNG is pretty cool once it gets going, and you'll have a lot of fun with it not just for its great episodes but also, for the cool episodes that sort of seed DS9.
I would like the (impossible, obviously) opportunity to see where the show would have gone if your character assessments had been given to the writers as a guide to go by on Day 1. :lol:
I'm not a DS9 fan, but yes, I think as a person who grew up with TNG and who likes it a great deal, it gets better by orders of magnitude. I'd guess that about a third of season 1 consists of '70s material that really did not translate over well to the late '80s. So you get through that, you're mostly home free. Season 1's highs are above average, its lows (Code of Honor and Angel One) objectively awful, but season 2 improves, then season 3 sees the show's maturation with more even, more consistent, and more relevant stories. And the actors settle into their interpretations of the characters they play. My opinion, anyway.
Being like only a full time fan since Feb, some of these impressions I can agree with. Ha, Captain's 'doctor'.
