This is really worth checking out. Absent the obligatory Trek trappings of the other Hidden Frontier productions I found it a good deal more engaging - the backstory and set-up unfolds in the first episode in a very direct, entertaining way with a minimum of exposition and just about no technobabble, which is no small trick in setting up an original "universe."

Performances are generally good, the sound work is really nice, and the green screen seems to have improved a lot. Makeup, costuming, the design of the practical aspects of the sets are very inventive.

And Nick Cook is in it, which immediately elevates any fan production. ;)

I enjoyed this a great deal as well. Good ol' pulp science fiction that had echos of Robert Heinlein's Space Cadet, Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, and the failed pilot Star Command. All things that I enjoy to various degrees.

Moreover, the green screen work has greatly improved as have the costuming and make-up. The performances have, likewise, greatly improved.

I look forward to more.

Fo'sho.

Good stuff. I have been waiting for this to start for a long time. Good to see it finally putting eps out. Loved the first ne and look forward to seeing where young Connor goes.

All the best with this venture.

Just finished it. Looks good so far. Could use a tin of polish here and there, but that's not a bad thing, certainly nothing that time and people getting used to their roles won't take care of.

I believe Carol Crouse did makeup on this. She's the best.
Carol sculpted the appliances from my concepts, and greatly improved most of them in the process; we're lucky to have her. I can't wait 'til something truly alien comes along for us to do, I'd love to see where she can take it.

BRAVO!!!:techman:

A very enjoyable, well produced and well acted first episode!
Good introduction of the main characters, a tantalizing look at the 25th Century and the set up of what looks to be an interesting mystery/conspiracy.
Definitely looking forward to the next installment!

Just curious though, what are the long term plans for this series?
Since this in not Fan Film and does not infringes on another studio's (Paramount) property (ie: Star Trek Hidden Frontier), will Rob Caves and company be later collecting the series episodes together into season sets and selling them through their online store? Based just on what I have seen in the vignettes and first episode, I would definitely buy it if it came available.

I've not yet watched the episode, but I looked at the site's cast page and noticed that John Whiting is in it. He looks a lot younger without all that "Henglaar hair!" :)

Nick is a great actor. I just hope my brief acting doesn't 'downgrade' the production. LOL. At least I die quick!

Hmmmmm, Buck Rogers/Star Trek meets Harry Potter with a little bit of Babylon 5/Crusade/Space Cruiser Yamato (aka the 'time limit') thrown in - and a bunch of gratuitous ship name references from various space based sci-fi genre.

A bit old school but I like old school. ;) I really don't care for the Harry Potter-esque elements of the academy and the instructors/evil corporation stuff, but overall a well done production given the resources (ie you're really making the best with what you have).

Personally though, would rather see this on Sci-Fi rather than that 'Sactuary' web series they are attempting to turn into a more mainstream production. I assume you're hoping someone might see something in the concept they could take into a more ainstream direction, but again, given your resources, cast and crew are doing an amazing job.

Hope you're able to continue.
