first episode was Balance of Terror rewrite

The Klingons in the first episode are Romulans - they act like them. Instead of just attacking like Klingons do, they scheme like Romulans.

They attack a relay on the edge of Federation space, like the Romulans attacked outposts on the edge of Federation space.

Burnham is guided by a violent attack years before like Lt. Stiles was guided by the violence his grandfather endured during the Earth-Romulan War.

Burnham urges an attack first strategy just like Spock and Stiles did in Balance of Terror.

Not at all.
1: TOS Klingons schemed and lied and set traps and all kinds of stuff
2: The Klingon picked a space on the boarder. It was also needed because the relic was there. The fact the Federation was so close to the relic may have been a trigger
3: Burnham had a tragic past. She was actually guided by vulcans though and it was the humans who incorrectly assumed she was guided by that attack

4: Well yeah, it was the logical thing to do.

I mentioned this on the "what incident?" thread. In one of the early interviews Fuller stated that Balance of Terror, one of his favorites, would be "a touchstone" for the season's story arc. So he was upfront about this.

I rewatched Errand of Mercy last night, and these Klingons are pretty much the same as the TOS ones...
