First actor with multiple parts in Star Trek?

Vaugn Armstrong has the record for most parts played in Star Trek. In DS9 and Enterprise Jeffrey Combs played a lot of repeating characters.

Who was the first actor or actress in Star Trek to play more than one character and what were those characters?

Without looking it up, I would guess that the first would be Majel Barrett ("Number One" and "Nurse Chapel") back on TOS.

Shortly thereafter, of course, you had Mark Lenard, William Campbell, Diana Muldaur, Barbara Babcock, etc.

Oh duh! I just watched the first 7 episodes of TOS. I should have thought of her. There are a lot of different people in medical and covering the helm during those early episodes.

That guy who played Captain Tracey also played another character -- Morgan Woodward, I think his name is. He played a mental patient (Dr. Van Gelder) in "Dagger of the Mind").

Interestingly, WIlliam Shatner also appeared very briefly as Jim Kirk's brother "Sam" (of course he was dead but the body was the Shat with a moustache).

Also appearing in "The Cage" with Majel Barrett was Jon Lormer, who would return for another first-season episode ("Return of the Archons") and again in Season 3's "For the World Is Hollow... ".

And, of course, Shatner also played Evil Transporter Kirk, Android Duplicate Kirk, Mirror Universe Kirk, Janice Lester Kirk, and various Shape-Shifting Imposter Kirks . . . .

The actor who played Fisher in "The Enemy Within" had also played a crewmen in "The Cage" - perhaps he's very well preserved, or a relative?

Don't forget Mark Leonard who played a Romulan commander in one of the best TOS episodes ever and then topped that off (as if he could!) with his role as Spock's Dad.

^ Mark Leonard also played the Klingon captain at the beginning of Star Trek: the Motion Picture.

He also "played" semi-borg Kirk, in the Shatner-verse novels.
