This is serious because fingernails explain how you use your hands...you know..

so - how do you use your hands? your fingers keeping your nails ... what color if you color them .. or say long short etc === problems with your fingernails do you get a manicure now and then... ever? woh woh this is poll question like topic now.

anything you want to add you can post but - lets go to the poll :)

Should have thought about this deeper ... Please help me with images == this is all part of your psychological profile we are developing for the alien invasion about to happen in the next event on 2020 oooo --- oooo or 2025 which ever year gets here first.

Bonus questions and answers === refer to your toenails ----

Did I mention the use of fingernails as weapons of mass destruction? mmmm well If you put a nuclear weapon on a nail and then like scratch someone with it... mmmmm maybe like anykind of poison even.. then .. but the nail is a weapon needless to say...0000

My nails have always been very short, as I bite them when anxious, which is frequently. I am so used to it that I just prefer them really short now. I once went on a two week vacation where I was quite relaxed and didn't bite them at all, but by the time I got home the longer nails were driving me crazy so I clipped them short right away. It felt weird to have nails touching the keyboard, book, desk, buttons, etc. It felt like there wasn't enough of my skin on the end of my finger that was touching things. Hope that makes sense...

I bit them for the longest time, they were frequently ruined and even bled a little, so yes it does.

Last year I started looking after them a lot better because it was past time, I didn't want to end up getting professional help to stop doing it.

I bite them out of habit (only at home), so I never have tips. I stopped biting for a couple months years ago, filed and put colour on but I became tired of all the extra work so I went back to biting them. However they aren't mangled and disgusting.

My job involves a lot of typing on a computer keyboard, so I keep my nails clean and short. They grow so damn fast that sometimes I have to clip them twice a week. I wonder if I might be a werewolf.

My nails (both finger and toe) usually appear as if they have been assaulted by baboons wielding poorly-sharpened tuna can lids.

Mmm thanks so much cause I find that this is interesting,.. of course I find counting tiles on the ceiling a great pass time too... right

And thanks in advance a pay it forward thing. For the answers we might get enough data to chart this...

I've kept mine very short ever since learning to type on a typewriter. Once you get the wpm going at a good clip, you want as little as possible in the way of the keys and bars.

when we get to page two or three of the posts like twenty or forty I will start to develop a way to plot this ...

Thanks ElimParra :)

like most classical guitar players: left short, right longer.
Well, in theory. Unfortunately, in praxis I have a job that requires me to work in rivers and streams most of the day. Cold and acid water makes nails brittle and fragile, no matter how much almond oil and super-fat lotion you spend on them, so that decent nails become a luxury you can enjoy only during a loooong vacation :(. The result is that about 340 days a year my nails are 10 different lengths.

I'm really weird about my fingernails particularly with certain textures. The idea of touching sand paper (or rusty metal) with my fingernails REALLY freaks me out.

I clip them as soon as any white is showing and frequently cause them to bleed. Why? I have no idea.

Mine are usually pretty battered, along with having pretty callused hands. Really must start wearing gloves when doing manual labour

Same here, sort of. I'm not a classical guitarist, and I use the "banjo roll" style of picking. And even then I don't use the ring and little fingers, so the nails on the index and middle fingers are the longest.
