finding hidden paramount.com/startrek folders...

InstantKarma

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
So I've been typing in URLs to the official site seeing if anything loads up. Most just give a 404 error, but when I added 'test' to the end, it gives a 403 forbidden, meaning they really have a folder called "test" but whatever file is inside it, we have to add after "test/" to access.

I'm trying multiple similar file and folder names that the Cloverfield site uses.

The teaser trailer will be hosted on Apple.com today.

My guess is the official site will be or IS currently in the test folder, but the index.html file is named something random.

Eh, he could be some hacker genius for all we know. Hey kid, are you trying Trek-related stuff? 47 and the like? If it really is some sort of "viral marketing" attempt that they want someone to crack, it won't be random. They'll use something insidery and clever. Try Tiberius. Energize. Like that.

It's been a hour and a half since we last heard from InstantKarma ---- I can only assume Paramount agents have him in custody. We will miss you. :guffaw:

Mmm. Smart.

I'd say it's pretty definite he's not a plant--just typing in URL's and hoping one of them sticks. Clever with the /test.

There's also a /images. 403 on that too.

I doubt the site was designed by the Abrams Five, so I'm betting no on any secret guesses, but I tried /4815162342 and /server47 and /server_47 (that being an Alias reference, not a Trek one, although Orci is notorious for 47 in general). Nothing.

A Star Trek ARG ?
ARG you crazy ?
It can't be done Star Trek is too well known....

They are using a big flash file (swf) for the main page, the site currently employs a flash file called startrek_b.swf (no bloody a,c,d or e LOL) . It looks like the same developer from the cloverfieldmovie.com site that use cloverfield_1.swf, (with the embeded trailer). It looks like the developer uploads them on the site when there ready to go and not before, so looking for other folders now probably won't help any. So if you want to find out about the trek site you have to look at there other sites for patterns and codes.

Viacom (not CBS) does have another Star Trek related domain sitting up on there server (with paramount.com and cloverfieldmovie.com) that they got last month from a private entity and were originally going use (its currently blank) but decided to use paramount.com/startrek instead (they still may use the other domain for something though, who knows, up to them).

Sorry, if I get all techie but scifi domains , sites , forums etc.. are my specialties.

I would try TOS related terms like tribble, gorn, etc.

Good find on /images

Remember there could be subfolders inside these... /cast, etc. (I didn't look for that one.)

* More to come ? *

Ncc-1701.com is the only star trek name on the Viacom movie server right now, they obtained that name on 12-23-07 from a private domain holder. I have accually talked to the guy that owns ncc1701.com (with out the dash) a couple weeks ago and he would sell for the right price, which as of today will be very high i imagine! LOL

CBS, on the other hand has 67 Star Trek domain names on the server that holds startrek.com so if JJ wanted one of those im sure CBS would not mind transfering it to Viacom. Interestingly enough, alot of those names are expriring in the next 6 months and i'm curious to see if CBS will renew all of them or not and only keep the startrek.xxx related names.
