Previously, ABC and Lost showrunners Damon Lindelolf and Carlton Cuse had said Season 6 would be comprised of 17 hours total, but now EW's Michael Ausiello reports, via Twitter, "ABC confirms that Lost's sixth and final season will total 18 hours, including two-hour premiere and two-hour finale." Season 6 was actually going to originally be made up of 16 hours, until the writers' strike shortened Season 4, so this is the second time another hour of the show has been added to the final year.
:techman: Great news! Sounds like a similar situation to season 4, where they lobbied ABC to give them one more hour for "There's No Place Like Home." 18 isn't much bigger than 17, but they've definitely got a ton of story to get through so I'm happy to have more LOST before it ends forever.

Now, how they gonna sneak in a sequel? And after seeing how much emotion you've had to invest in Lost, would you do it again?

A sequel would have to be very loosely connected to Lost, in the same universe (where Dharma etc exists) but using none of the same characters and no Island. Maybe an oblique reference once in a very long while.

Hell yes, I'd watch it. Emotional investment is ok if there's a payoff.

Henrik and Mathias, a show about Penny Widmore's chess-playing Portuguese-speaking underlings. It might work as a sitcom. :bolian:

The sequel? Marshal Flinkman goes to the Island, turns the donkey wheel, ends up in Renaissance Italy and goes by the name Milo Rambaldi!
;)

^^Maybe the extra hour is just so they can play the first part of the pilot again. :D

Now that they're up to 18 episodes I would REALLY love it if we got a Fall premiere. You could air 9 in Sept/Oct/Nov and then 9 in Mar/Apr/May. It really sucks having to wait nearly an entire year between seasons...

No way. I much rather have all 18 aired together and wait until next year for them instead of having them split up with a big waiting period in the middle.

It might not be possible for an autumn premiere. As far as I'm aware I think principal photography has yet to start for this final season. Besides, Daniel Dae Kim is still in London starring in "The King And I" and he might be needed.

What I would prefer is for then to have a Lost day and just air the whole damn thing in one sitting. I'm greedy though. :D

So, is this extra episode the comeback for Charlie/Eko/every-other-dead-character-rumoured-to-be-back?
