Final Numbers (really!) - Trek #5 - $12.6 M, $209.3 M and $310.7 M

ESTIMATES FROM BOXOFFICEGURU

1. Up - $68.2 million
2. NATM2 - $25.5 million
3. DMTH - $16.6 million
4. Terminator - $16.1 million
5. Star Trek - $12.8 million
6. A&D - $11.2 million
7. Dance Flick - $4.9 million
8. Wolverine - $3.9 million
9. GOGP - $1.9 million
10. Obsessed - $0.7 million

Estimated $3.6 million on Friday, $5.4 million on Saturday (+49%) and $3.8 million on Sunday (-28%). Again, these are estimates, but the daily percentage changes are pretty in-line with Trek's performance over previous weekends, so this number may not be far from the actual.

$12.8 million would be a reasonable 44% drop from Trek's 3-day total last weekend.

For comparisons sake, Batman Begins dropped 36% on its 4th weekend to $10 million and Iron Man dropped 36% to $20 million (but it was Memorial Day weekend).

Star Trek has now made $209.5 million, and has passed Superman Returns' $200 million and Batman Begins' $205 million final domestic totals. This would put it at #81 on the all-time domestic list, unadjusted. The global total increased to $101 million, pushing the worldwide total at $311 million.

You can't help but feeling bad for T4. Star Trek's fourth weekend makes almost as much as T4's second.

Yeah, it's not even keeping pace with T3, which is the really sad part.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

It will take a huge oversea total to see the TERMINATOR trilogy envisoned get seen, more likely we will see a cheaper 2nd film that could resolve the war or no movie at all. So much for T being a big franchise still...I do think the SCC show did more harm than good and the studio just got it wrong with the people in charge.

So if these numbers hold ST will probably make no more than $5million in midweek taking it to $214 million and then most likely $6 million next weekend leaving it over $220 million and the movie will probably exceed the $230 mark set by most people including me. I am going to say total rises to $223 after another midweek and then $227 for weekend after that so eventually after all said and done this movie will rest between $235-240 domestic total (pity it will fall short of $250 million.

If the sequel gets the same Universal praise and barring a stronger summer competition which lets all says has failed to happen this time, $300 million domestic total wise is a big big possibility....getting ahead of myself

dam what a run, still can't believe it god knows what J.J thinks about all the $$$ and prasie for his movie.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

That's a pretty ugly number for Terminator (though not really all that unexpected, given its performance in the past week). Six months ago, I never would have guessed that Terminator would end up making less money (domestically) than Paul Blart: Mall Cop. But it looks like that's exactly what's going to happen.

I like these box office returns!

They're exciting!

Well, I dont presume to know what he thinks but it is certainly a very nice feather in his cap. Not to many directors can say that they saved a franchise that spans 700 episodes and 10 movies from oblivion

Well, there's-

Uuuh...

Hmmm....

I got nothin.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

Based on the early weekend estimates being off (too low) the past several weekends, I predict it will come in around 13 million...

I disagree that it will not hit 250 million. I believe it will. This movie is going to be in theatres for a long time...probably another couple of months, which will take it into the period when students are off for the summer and families are on summer vacations. This will allow it to hit 250 million (at least) domestic.

^Time will tell. Saw for the 4th time last night, and with each viewing I'm appreciating the quality of this movie, it's attention to detail, it's intelligence. What a huge success on every level, including $$$.

Ya T4 is turning into a huge bomb. I cant believe they spent $200 million on it.

We were at viewing #11 last night and had a great time. The audience was, too; they were really enjoying themselves, by the laughter and applause. People will be able to see this over and over.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

I think 230-240 is more likely, but I would LOVE to pass TMP and get to 250.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

we are heading into a sorta of a lull period until transformers,
so that might help.
the movie has just gone through a period were three supposed blockbusters
were released on top of it.

as for t4.. it is possible a lot of the people who watch sarah connor chronicles got hacked off that their series was canceled and decided not to support a movie that had nothing to do with scc. plus just the bad word of mouth that came with t4.

Actually I don't feel sad for T4 at all. It gets what it deserves. T4 shows so many similarities with Transformers and other recent and better sci-fi movies, it just seems like a cheap cash-in. Also, the television series flopped and was cancelled, so what exactly were the suits expecting. As I have said before, no one wants a Terminator sequel/prequel/whatever.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

I don't feel sad for any other movie. they all got what they deserve. I'm only pulling for Trek!:)

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million

updated the first post with the more accurate estimates...Trek with $12.8 million.

Re: Early Weekend Estimate - Trek #5 - $12.5 million - $209 million
