Fictitious Countries in TV and Film

I get a kick out of the fictitious countries that are invented for TV and film. Knight Rider had a fictitious country somewhere around the US/Mexico border. I can't remember its name. The original Transformers had a fictitious Middle Eastern country whose name I don't remember either. D'oh.

Anyway, what are some others?

"Isthmus" in License to Kill, which bears absolutely no resemblance to Panama. Nope, nosiree.

In season 2 of 24 everyone kept mentioning the "THREE MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES" but the lengths they went to to never actually refer to them by name just got plain ridiculous.

Pottsylvania! That's the home country of Boris and Natasha from Rocky & Bullwinkle for those who haven't seen it.

I seem to recall in one of the Three Stooges shorts, they went to a county called Moronica or something like that. They've got a bunch like that as I recall.

in Homestar Runner you've got Dortugal, Prance, Potamia, and other Far Off Lands
and Strong Badia

Doctor Doom is the . . . doctor . . . of Latveria

the Island of Sodor in that show where Ringo plays a small dude who likes trains . . .

Well, there are always the fictional countries from Mission Impossible such as the European People's Republic, etc. I'll have to go back and watch my tapes...

One which comes to mind is the Kingdom of Potsdorf in The Great Race. (Actually, Salzburg was used for most of the exterior shots.)

Lower Slobbovia from Li'l Abner, though that was originally a comic strip, as was Elbonia from the Dilbert strips.

There must be a list of all the various countries that the IMF ran operations in over the years. Going by signage, many of them seemed to have the same language, though.

Edit:

D'OH! And Freedonia, from the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup. How could I forget that one? :o

I just watched The Beautician and the Beast the other day (I know, I know...I'm very embarrassed) and they had a fictional country name Slovetzia.

Damn, beat me to it! :D

Does New New York count? There don't seem to be countries in Futurama, since everyone is an Earthican.

Slavic and eastern European-sounding countries seem to be favorites. Ending in -via, -ovia, or -ania.

GI Joe had a few: Springfield for one, Cobra Island
Transformers created the fictious Middle Eastern country of Carbombya or something like that. Led to a major split with Casey Kassum who left the show, which is why Cliffjumper/Teletran 1 isn't featured later one.

There are others I can't remember.

"Balinderry" from The Six Million Dollar Man episode "Outrage in Balinderry".

"San Marcos" from Woody Allen's "Bananas".

"Ruritania" from "The Prisoner of Zenda".
