Ferengi vs Vorta(male): Mano y Mano

The Vorta would subvert the Nausicaan before the Ferengi ever got to him.

Forget that, the Vorta would run away immediately and send a squad of Jems in his place.

But the Ferengi would run away, too, and barricade himself behind a pile of latinum. Hmm. I say it's a draw.

You forget Vorta can make that flying blue electric(?) ball and hit the Ferengi.

Unless it was something that only Eris could do, but I always assumed this was a general Vorta characteristic.

Was it? We never saw any other Vorta after Eris use that ability. I believe show rationale from the writers was that Eris (and maybe some other Vorta along with her) were given this power for a specific purpose by the Founders and it was not a trait common to all Vorta. Eris was going in to spy on the Feds w/ no Jem'Hadar back up, perhaps they felt she needed a means to defend herself if it all went to hell.

If we are talking about a purely physical fight, sadly, I believe the Ferengi would win. They're not a "warrior" people like the Klingons but unlike the Vorta they evolved, they were not engineered/programmed. And from what we've seen, the Vorta were engineered to be the "brains," not the "brawn." I do not believe we have ever seen a Vorta physically defend themselve (excluding Eris' telekenesis) or so much as grab someone by the arm. They would probably try and "negotiate" their way out of a fight.

True, we never saw any other Vorta using it, but then no other Vorta was in a situation that required using it. Weyoun clearly said that all Vorta were immune to most types of poison, but if he wouldn'y say it, would it mean he was the only one, just because we saw only him drinking a poison?

I have no real arguments to support my assumption, except that it could be cool if all Vorta would posses such an ability

Oh I dunno, I think Weyoun 7 could've used it when Worf went to snap his neck....

I think all happened too fast for him to react in any matter. IIRC Eris had to concentrate and it took a second or two to form her weapon.

But to think of it, you're right - Weyoun 8 surely knew he and his founder were in trouble, when Garak and Kira charged into their room and did nothing either.

Shame, it would be nice to see more of them using it. I think scriptwriters forgot ;)

Ron Moore said this about Eris' abilities in an AOL chat in 1998...

Our internal rationale has been that Eris was given this ability for a specific purpose by the Founders (and maybe several other Vorta along with her) and that it is not a normal part of the Vorta "recipe" in the Dominion.

It would come down to the individuals involved. How strong they are, how fast they are, tactics and of course luck.

Of the two species generally we have seen a examples that the Ferengi can be capable soldiers. They even have a professional killers profession called Eliminators. I'd put my money on Leck to defeat any of the named Vorta we have seen. Also Nog was Starfleet trained so he would be pretty good in a fight.

As for the Vorta. They don't really seem that adept...the only Vorta who I could see having any combat training is Eris. Infiltrator Vorta like her would be perfect for assassin training. So with really a lack of on screen evidence I would probably side more often than not with the Ferengi. Plus given they don't get cloned a Ferengi might have a stronger will to live than the Vorta and might want the win more.

I think TPTB conveniently "forgot" about it, but I saw it happen! :p So I'm going with the Vorta.

Tho the Ferengi seem like they'd bite...

Does it have to be male Vorta? Because you know if it was Kilana and a male Ferengi, I'm sure she could distract him long enough to stick a knife in his back. That would be kind of fun to see, actually.

As long as she was clothed, she would be able to distract him. ;)

Ferengi hires six Nausicaans to kill the Vorta. Vorta counters with six Jem'Hadar. While the Jem'Hadar are enjoying themselves wiping the floor with the Nausicaans, the Ferengi takes bets against the Nausicaans and offers to share the profits with the Vorta. The Vorta laughs and has the Jem'Hadar kill the Ferengi.

Barring Nausicaans and Jem'hadar, the Ferengi wins for reasons others already mentioned. But having them fight that way would be silly.
