Female Villain for 4th reboot film

Laura Cynthia Chambers

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Without discussing details of Beyond (I haven't seen it yet), I think there should be a female villain for the next AR movie. It would introduce a new element; suddenly, matching wits and weapons isn't the only challenge for Kirk. There's also attraction to fight off, and a villain who is not entirely his equal in some sense.

You know what I'm trying to say, right? Not that she'd be a villain Mary Sue or inferior because she's a woman, just different dynamics and ways of thinking.

Nah. Then how could you have the whole, "I hate you, but I'm totally attracted to you, but then I see your horrible universe view/determination to destroy us and all my interest in you as a potential mate goes right out the window - fire!" dynamic?

Cross TOS Balance of Terror with Enterprise Incident. The Enterprise-A responds to an attack by a Romulan Warbird commanded by a female Romulan commander. The attack lures the Enterprise across the Neutral Zone where they are captured by 3 Romulan ships. Kirk and Spock beam aboard the Romulan ship to steal the cloaking device and escape back to Federation space. The romantic tension between the Romulan commander and Spock causes Uhura to be jealous.

The last three films have all had big, bad villains in them. While I have no objection to a villain being female, I was hoping for something different this time round.

Me too. However, it seems that the Abramsverse movies are all intended to be big action blockbusters. Easiest route is for a shoot-em-up with a big villain.

I really don't get why the villain should or would not be Kirk's equal. Making her inherently inferior to him doesn't make her as interesting or dangerous surely. Not that they couldn't have equal but different skills, but I don't get the emphasis on the inferiority.
I'd love to see some strong competent Romulan women, but more strong female characters from any race would be welcome.

Like she's stronger in one way and weaker in others - together, they average each other out (almost).

Could someone change this thread's title to "female villain or spatial phenomena for fourth film?"? Because they also haven't come up against something they can't argue to death about "my universe view is better than your universe view" yet. It would be interesting to have them be up against a creature that isn't sentient or a spatial anomaly.

Granted, they could still have an antagonist in the form of someone who has a different idea about how to beat the anomaly/exploit it.

How about a female spatial anomaly? Like that floating head in TNG Where No One Has Gone Before except female.

I thought it would've been more interesting had Admiral Marcus in ItD been a woman instead of a man, played by a Judi Dench-type actress. We've never really seen a warmongering female villain in Trek before, and I can't think of one from any other film either.
