FC: does anyone have...?

I saw it in a supermarket, but never bought it. I only read the first page, but the text and art seemed to indicate they'd used the draft screenplay that leaked onto the internet.

Read it here. TrekCore summarizes it thusly:

An early draft of the script had Picard, Beverly and Geordi down on Earth working to achieve the warp flight with Riker, Troi and Worf aboard the Enterprise fighting the Borg. The Borg would have also made environmental control their hive and Data would have had his entire body covered in human flesh. During the deflector dish scene, a Borg would have assaulted Riker from above, causing the two of them to tumble through space at each other's throats, only to be saved by Troi on the bridge who catches them in the tractor beam. The deflector would have been destroyed by Worf manually rotating the quantum torpedo launcher to point at the dish and firing upon it. Picard and Geordi would have made the warp flight alone. The character of Lily would have been named Ruby and Picard would have brought her back to the 24th century with him. The script was reworked after Patrick Stewart requested a more "action-role" for Picard. Eventually, Picard and Riker's roles were reversed and the "Ahab gets his whale" element added.

Im glad they changed it the final film sounds like it is far better than that imo.

Oh, just WTF is this?

Bear in mind that the Enterprise E didn't have a finished design yet. If you look at some of the story boards on the collector's edition set of First Contact, you'll find that Worf does bring out a turret like weapon out of the hull.

Hey, Troi was useful in the movie. If she hadn't gotten hammered, they never would have found Zephrim Cochrane. :p

Naah, she just sat there, doing nothing proactive. I vastly preferred the penultimate script version where she fights back the amorous advances of the warp inventor:

"That will do, you pig, that will do!"...

I used to have it; God knows where it is now. The biggest thing I remember about the MAD adaption was that it ended with Picard smoking a cigarette at a table and reading a newspaper as he half-heartedly summarized the ending of the story.

I don't remember how different the storyline was to the movie because at the time I just passed it off as MAD getting creative with the source material.

Occasionally MAD releases a special combo issue with all the themed paradies together. I have the one predating First Contact, but I think when the New movie comes out they may do it again with additional material.

That part sounds pretty cool to me.
